I'm not intrigued with his personality but fact is this guy is true WR1 talent when motivated. Im laughing at people calling him depth, it's a reason NE is making a push for him. With the loss of key defensive guys we will need to up our offense and Stevie will help with this cause. Still think he chooses SD though.
agreed, he would be a wr2...lafell and danny as wrs 3,4?..with dobson/gibson? That would be a very strong core..and gronk, chandler?...add pierre and that would be scary good

I'm with you on that. If he lives up to his potential w/TB12, he'll be far from a "depth guy" occasionally seeing the field.

Watch him suddenly sign with some random team like the Rams.
No he already told the Jets no thanks and that its the Chargers or Patriots.
I see the late push from us being that he talked to BB after the fact and said he would like to play here but moving his family and maybe more money in SD so we then sweetened the pot.
Who better to have the luck of the Irish today then us Boston fans eh.

My point is we don't need a superstar receiver like moss or calvin johnson to achieve our goal.
This may well be true. But if your defense has weakened then it makes sense to upgrade on offense wherever you can. It'd help balance some anticipated struggles with that secondary.

The team got to two more super bowls and won one since moss left. Not to mention a whole bunch of AFCCG appearances, We're doing just fine without him.

So stevie is the 4th receiver?

marqui, not sure why you disagreed with my question. Retribution for disliking your idea that the team should bring in a 37 year old terrence newman?

Why can't it help to have Stevie if we can get him? Why can't it help to have another upgrade on offense?

Not getting what your point is. So the Pats shouldn't sign a WR that if he came in and picked up the system could be the #2 WR because they've done ok since Moss left?

You realize the year Moss left was Gronk's rookie season, right? Just trying to remind you that while Moss did leave they had the guy that is the best TE currently in the game.

When's this guy making a decision? Hes holding the team hostage at a point.

I dont think so, this is the mans life and his family life sometimes they need a little time that's not unreasonable.
All things considered I'm sure the Patriots are already on plan c or d if Harvin was A and Johnson B.
So Belichick might very well be talking to the agents of Crabtree or Bowe while Johnson mulls it over.
No player will ever hold this team hostage.
Not even Revis.
We will always move forward to fill slots and scout the next man up.
Whether its with the Chargers or the Patriots I think Stevie is poised for a huge season. With a major step up in quality QB and offense.

anyone else a little surprised BB seems so intent on adding another quality WR?..especially after signing gibson and dobson a year older. Is it simply trying to score more after losing our cbs?

Is it simply trying to score more
I hope the goal of every offseason is to score more (and allow less). What's happening on defense is happening, that's irrelevant to Johnson, obviously we're trying to score more.

Since the pats cannot get any quality CBs they have to stack up on WR so they can go back to the days of trying to outscore teams.
