I think he held out as long as he can, for the Patriots to match or very close to the Texans offer.
He probably really wanted to stay... It's very unfortunate.

There are not many players whose entire career was a Patriot. Tedy was the last, I believe.

Bruschi or Matt Light or Troy Brown. It's a sad, select few and I'm sorry to see the big guy go, even if he is closer to me on these Texans.

If he had to go somewhere the Texans were a pretty non-offensive option. I would like to imagine he laughed at the Colts even inquiring about him.

Yes. He came in with a championship and without one.
Here's a pic of Vince holding the Lombardi in front of me after they won SB XXXIX

I had to reach up. The guy is a wall.

Great video. Very sad to see him go. :(:(:(

One of the best Patriots of all time, and future HOFer.

Will never forget big Vince dropping back into coverage and making the interception at 325+ lbs and enormous.

And, of course, the buttfumble.

A true leader, on and off the field. I loved watching him play, and hope he stays healthy on that garbage Houston field. I also hope he retires a pat. Maybe I could challenge him to a BBQ contest before induction [emoji12]

The business of being a Patriot, better to let them go a year early, rather than a year late.

Will miss Vince, he did a lot for this team..

Thanks for everything Vince. I always enjoyed my Mother-In-Law's stories of seeing Vince at the grocery store near Foxboro with a kid or two hanging off of him while he was pushing one grocery cart, pulling another, both of which were packed to the brim.

It is what it is in today;s salary cap NFL.

Very heavy heart this week.

Vince and his entire family are always part of the Patriots community.

He will always be a PAT. Big ups Vince

Thanks Vince - you were a great Patriot! Good luck in Texas, except when you play us, when I hope we run all over you (nothing personal of course :) )

Is there a reason we didn't keep Vince? Was it just time to part ways? Chargers signed him for 2 yrs 9 mil...we couldn't match that? Apparently he was pretty solid as a run defender last year and we should have plenty of cap space now that we missed out on Revis...what gives?

Kevin Faulk too.

Hopefully Tom Brady.
