I played Patriots GM today, my first mock of the year (7 rounds)

That's three risky picks with your first three although I'm fine with all. But there's potential there for a big flame-out.

As much as there is risk attached to all 3 of the first picks, I have my doubts if any will be available at those slots. Peters is seemingly getting top 15 vibes right now, and hunter could go anywhere from 25-75 and i wouldnt be surprised.

Watching day 2 of the draft and counting down picks til 96 to see if Hardison was still available would be heart attack inducing.

Hardison and Marpet still available, with Mayo and Manx in the chat. Belichick picks Jamil Douglas and Bryce Petty. Pandemonium ensues

I have no expectTion of BB drafting Hardison. Actually think it's unlikely.

Why?

I think that with the Todd Graham connection it's a distinct possibility that Hardison is on BB's radar. I can't imagine why he wouldn't be interested in someone with that kind of versatility, explosiveness and upside.

This time a year ago there were threads saying that there was no way that BB would draft Dominique Easley.

Admittedly, the odds of figuring out exactly where BB stands regarding any prospect is pretty darn low.

I wish you were joking but it will probably happen somewhat that way.

The mock made me realize just how few players in this draft are "safe" picks. It looks as though there are 10-15 1st rounders in this draft. After that it is going to be beauty in the eye of the beholder.

PS-I had a hard time not taking my binkie at 32. It is going to be sad when I hear diggy's name announced for another team.

I am probably wrong, but I think the Sheard signing makes Diggy highly unlikely. They seem to have a lot of carry over in what they bring to the table. Although I like Diggy a lot more, Hunter probably makes more sense from a versatility standpoint. Its a reason why I could see the team look at Mingo as a trade option, if the browns keep moving away from the previous regime(s) players.

Spot on. And that's taking nothing away from Diggy as a prospect.

Excellent mock! Except for hunter, I would be very happy with this mock.

Funny thing about this draft is that except for the cb from Michigan state and Collins from Alabama, the first part of the first round will be very light in db's.

But when the third db is taken, it could start a huge run on db's. Should be very interesting.

Firstly, good things don't happen to me draft wise. To used to seeing my binkies play elsewhere.

Secondly, I still think he's too raw for BBs taste.

I've been spoiled by having 2 of my binkies taken with the top pick in the draft in the past 2 years: Collins and Easley. So I'm feeling a bit more optimistic than you, and keeping my fingers crossed.

Just speaking for myself, I try to pick guys who I think makes sense and fit what I want the Pats to do, but I recognize that there are lots of other good options. The two guys I really want, as I've outlined in detail, are Hardison and Marpet. The rest is flexible. I have a long list of guys I like:

- RB: Todd Gurley, Tevin Coleman, Jay Ajayi, David Johnson
- OL: TJ Clemmings, Cam Erving, Jake Fisher, Donovan Smith
- WR: DeAndre Smelter, Tre McBride, Kenny Bell
- DT: Eddie Goldman, Leterrius Walton
- EDGE (outside of 1st round): Danielle Hunter, Max Valles
- CB: Marcus Peters, Byron Jones, Kevin Johnson, Eric Rowe, Josh Shaw

I'd be thrilled with any of the above. There are many, many other players who I'd be more than content with. If the Pats draft Hardison and/or Marpet I'll be elated, because I think they are good players, but as long as they get a good haul I won't be crying. Bryan Stork wasn't my choice at center, and he worked out pretty well.
