Can Malcom Butler be converted to safety?

I know it's the off-season but the number of dumb threads this year is staggeringly high.

Why would you even think about moving him to Safety?

Hell no on Butler...give the kid an opportunity to compete for starting CB1/2...I think Dennard on the outside is ok...

I would instead put Logan Ryan back there...hasn't he already played a bit as safety?

FS? Yes. He played it some last year.

But we don't have a need at FS.

We had bad results last year playing musical chairs with our offensive line. Better off to leave
McCourty and Chung at safeties, Arrington to cover the slot, and Ryan, Dennard, and Butler to
fight for the other two openings.

I think his ball skills and how hard he fights for it are his biggest strengths. The kid competes hard.

This question is important to Belichick because he wants to know Butler's later career flexibility. BB is in the midst of offering Butler a 14-year contract extension.

I believe Arrington would be a better safety candidate than Butler because Arrington has trouble following the ball in the air while running down field in coverage.

McCourty had the same problems back when he was a corner.
