Stevie Johnson on twitter was beckoning the Jets to call him and get the band back together with Fitzpatrick and Gailey.
He is using us to up his contract if he leaves New England with out a deal he is a green Bean and We will have to draft 3 cornerbacks.
Its kind of annoying people are spurning the world champs for also rans.
Very interesting Bowe or Crabtree would be good but would really like Stevie Johnson.

Very well could be just using us to up his value....why the players want to go to a losing franchise really is hilarious. Just goes to show how many players really don't care about winning...a lot of them don't

Why does everyone say receivers aren't smart enough to grasp the Pat's offense, it's not like Lafell is a Rhodes Scholar, and he seemed to have no issues figuring it out. Just because the Pats offense is somewhat difficult to pick up, doesn't mean the rest of the NFL has EASY offenses to figure out, I'm sure there are some offenses probably just as difficult to learn, and people learn it.

We or i have watched johnson for a while now..his route running is more...well it seems to be more free then what the patriots like IMO. So i am not sure how he will fit here IF he comes here...but i agree with others he will go to jets

Johnson has had problems on both teams he has been on. He wore out his welcome quick in San Francisco. He also had the rep in Buffalo of freelancing routes. Can you imagine him doing that to Brady. He is not the type of player that will succeed with the PATs.

BB has seen him enough to know what kind of player he is. He isn't bringing him if he doesn't think he can get the offense.

SF was a complete mess last year with a terrible passing offense. It ranked 30th. Yet he was still tied #3 on the team in targets behind Boldin and Crabtree and tied with Davis.

As for wearing out his welcome in SF? That's just not true.
#1 That was a Jim Harbaugh move. Jim Haurbaugh is gone. Baalke wants his guys there, Johnson wasn't his guy.
#2 They just signed Torrey Smith
#3 Johnson would have been a $6m cap hit this year and next year. Cutting him the dead hit was $0. Definition of cap casualty

BB doesn't bring in guys if he isn't interested in them.

Of course they are interested in him..but he can show the jets...hey i visited NE and they want me...but i want you ect

well, BB could bring in a guy he knows is going to the jets in order to drive the price of that player up. The player likewise is using the pats to get a bigger contract. both the player and the pats get the benefit.

Actually it is true he wore out his welcome. Numerous articles have stated that he dropped to the bottom of the receiving corp because of is effort and attitude. Its a moot point he will not be a Patriot. He will be a jet by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Or Belichick is just interested in the player and doesn't give a crap about what the jests are doing. Come on really driving up the contract? If the jests were that worried about Johnson going to the Pats they would have overpaid him the minute it was reported the Pats were interested and he was going to visit them.

I really just don't see the benefit of BB bringing Johnson to make the jests pay more. What are they gonna do offer a few million more? Ya that will really hurt them in the long run and BB knows it won't hurt them with the cap space they have.

Judging by reactions after the final whistle, it does seem that a lot of NFL players take a loss lightly.

The Jets are paying Decker 7.5 million a year, Marshall 8 million a year, and Kerley 4 million a year. I doubt they are going to spend 3-4 million on Johnson.

In NY, Johnson would compete with Kerley for #3 slot duties. In NE, he'd compete with Lafell for #2 WR across Edelman.

More snaps + Brady, I'd be surprised if he goes to NY barring them overpaying, which I canmt see.

Money is a powerful motivator but surely, the ability to play with Tom Brady, an incredibly accurate passer and frankly, the greatest human being ever born has to be high on the agenda list!

I think we'd see a good amout of Edelman/LaFell/Johnson 3 WR sets with Gronk and a single back. He wouldn't necessarily be competing with LaFell, there's room for both with Edelman and Gronk on the field.

Ya McDaniels couldn't really run as many 3 WR sets as he would probably would have liked to last year due to various issues.

Imagine this

LaFell Edelman Chandler Gronk Johnson

Ya have fun with that. OL blocks Brady is gonna carve teams apart.

BB and McDaniels saw what offense they wanted to run for 2015 when Brady carved the Seattle D up.

Well put, that's what I meant to say. We run so much 3 WR sets that his playing time would be greater here.

There's noway he's passing LaFell.

Even if our third WR is Amendola, Gibson or Dobson, that's an awesome lineup. If a third down back is signed or if James White develops, that's really going to be an awesome crew. I'm so pumped they signed Chandler, it's like a wet dream come true.

He is known to be an excellent route runner. That by definition is understanding the playbook.
o_O

Except you will find at least as many people that will claim that he is the worst route runner in the NFL that makes up his routes on the fly. Which would be totally incompatible with our offense.

We will know shortly..

All I know is the dude has moves that can break Sherman's ankles. That's enough to make me feel we should, indeed, sign the beast.

It doesn't matter unless he learns to stick tightly to his routes. This is the bread and butter if you want to play with Brady as your QB.
