Wrecks yapping again

If you keeping playing that same card, eventually it pans out and he is the genius. It is like the folks betting against the Pats....at some point it comes true and they can say they told you so. Noone remembers the picks with the grain. This is basically the same thing....

Based on the title of the thread I was expecting super bowl predictions or at least a gaurenteed playoff berth. Based on what was posted nothing he said is not true. Our defense is going to take a hit losing Mevis, Browner, and Wilfork. It's part of the price of being successful and maintaining a roster under the salary cap. The AFC east teams all added a potential superstar caliber player (Suh, McCoy, Mevis) yes some (all) overpaid but there has been an influx of talent and on paper all three teams are better this year. Do I believe any of them have closed the gap enough to win the division? No. The biggest reason the gap closed is people we lost not thier gains and we have by far the best QB in the division. What I do not think is unreasonable to expect is the Patriots will not go 6-0 this year, I think 4-2 is a more reasonable prediction which will still be enough to be AFCE champs again

Exactly what did Ryan say that was out of line?
The mere fact he's speculating over the AFCE competitive balance shifting six weeks after his primary division rival won the Super Bowl. He really should've taken a year off to join the media because that's what it sounds like he's doing anyway.

Same ol' hot wind from NY we get around here every March. It's just coming from upstate now. ;)

I get the feeling some fans would rather have him than BB as coach.
No kidding. Can you imagine BB giving that interview a week into free agency? "Yes, without a doubt we've gotten weaker and the Bills, Jets and Dolphins have gotten stronger with key acquisitions. The gap has narrowed, just like Rex says. They all should feel good about their chances. It is what it is and we've got our work cut out for us. After all, there is only five months to go before training camp."

Can you blame him? He just won the offseason Super Bowl again. This is an annual celebration for the big guy.

I think Bills and the Jets are tied for the OSB (Off Season Superbowl) but Wrecks' Bills win on the tie-breaker

Why don't you tell us which Pats fans you're talking about?

I assume he's referring to the fantasy football nerds who've already thrown in the towel over the Pats' lack of splashy moves in free agency vs. other AFCE teams.

Any interview that doesn't end with "Now let's go get a goddam snack" is a win for this guy :)

Seriously... he didn't say anything worthy of too much outrage, especially when you consider he's trying to buck up a fan base that's like...

There's nothing wrong with what Ryan reportedly said.

Pats added some noname and undervalued players...Chandler, Chekwa, Sheard, Gibson...a few of these guys are going to break thru for us (happens every year). In addition, looks like we'll need some young guys like Easley, Butler and White step up and fill some big shoes.

Other than Revis, I really don't see any of our losses as such a big deal. Sure a lot of the guys we lost are household names; but that's because they just won a Super Bowl. And it's because they've become household names that we need to replace them with the next generation of no names; have BB go ahead and make them famous.

As for the rest of the AFC East, even allowing that Suh, McCoy and Revis are playmakers, and big additions, the important thing is that between all three teams the best QB they can put on the field is Ryan Tannehill.

So although strictly speaking Rex is perfectly right, it still doesn't matter. The Pats roster may have gone from an A to an A-, but until the QB situation changes, the rest of the AFC East have really just gone from a C to a C+.

"Thanks for the vote if confidence there, friend! (Heh ... Just goes to show that work on refining my shtick has paid off when I can curry warm sentiment from Patriots fans without even trying. Suckers.)"

When asked about the trades and free agency, Rex should have said, "No comment," I guess? Maybe you did not listen to the interview?

The OP, posts 7, 23 and 26 in this thread sum up my thoughts.

There has been a ton of movement on the rosters of all 4 AFCE teams. There is still a ton offseason left so its difficult to say who will have improved or regressed come time to start playing games. Also, I think we can safely say that the Jets secondary has improved because they were so bad to begin with. Otherwise, I am not sure if the Bills and Miami have improved or otherwise because of all their moving parts. Really have to see how the rest of their moves shake out. Its a silly statement by Rex because none of the teams are complete at this points and it is foolish to measure them at this point.

There is no such thing as an "improved" team until you start playing games. That's the underlying fallacy of thinking that you can "improve" your team by signing free agents or drafting some guy out of Pop Warner that Mel Kiper raves about.

Well if he doesn't succeed in Buffalo there's always the infomercial circuit for him.

We have a feral kitten whose first sign of becoming a viable pet was to play with my feet. Now, whenever my wife or I are on the couch and wiggle our feet, he comes charging over to attack them. Generally, interacting this way with people is a good sign for a feral.

I suggested to my wife that we change his name to Rex.
Her response: "Do you want him to get adopted, or not?!"
