Indy TE Dwayne Allen: New Colts "possible Dream Team"

They can be the dream. We'll still be their worst nightmare

Still have to get past us. D is still very subpar and Luck is good for 2 HORRID INTs a game vs us

They are a legitimate threat. They will add 3-4 rushing touchdowns per year to the resume of whoever is the Pats' main running back when we play them. That eventually will drive perfectly good role-players outside of New England.

Have you looked at the Rams defense? They are stacked and young. On offense they have a lot of young talent especially at the RB and WR positions. Foles was a pro bowl QB in 2013 with a QB rating of 119.2. If he plays like that with that defense they're a legit contender.

You named those other teams cause they're high profile not because you actually assessed the talent. I recommend you spend a little more time on educating yourself instead of just following the herd.

I watched the Rams absolutely dismantle Denver last year. Their defense might be #1 this year, especially if Donald takes a second year leap.

Denver's taken a step back, and if Manning is where he ended up last year, they'll be lucky to win their division. KC and San Diego could both eclipse them. Ware is a year older and was terrible in the 2nd half of the season last year. Talib stayed healthy last year, but we'll see if that holds. Pot Roast, JT and Welker are gone...AND they've got a completely new coaching staff. I think their window has closed, unless Manning really was quite hurt.

Baltimore has taken a step back, too, losing lots of key pieces, but I'll expect them around because Ozzie knows how to put new pieces together as well as anyone (he's right there with BB in this regard).

Pittsburgh was overrated last year. The only reason they're on the list is because it's Pittsburgh and tradition and stuff (and half of the sports shows are stacked with former Steelers!).

If Indy played St. Louis on a neutral field, Luck might leave in an ambulance.

Detroit lost the interior of their DL and the guy who gave them swagger. I doubt they make the playoffs this year.

Green Bay - yep, here I'll agree.

Do not undersell St. Louis. They could contend for the West if Foles can play anywhere near where he was a couple of years ago, and NOBODY wants to play them.

I appreciate the "going against the grain" mindset, but I think you guys are going too far. Let's take a step back here- maybe St. Louis has improved. To say they are the team to fear after Seattle and New England is quite a jump. It is more likely they will finish last in their division than make the playoffs, according to Vegas. They are 50:1 to win the Super Bowl, ranked 23rd out of 32 teams. Yet I am hearing they are #3. I'd encourage both of you to bet a lot of money on the Rams; you'll never have a better bet in your lives if you really believe they are more scary than teams that are favored to be in SB contention.

Well part of that ranking has to do with the fact that htey play in a division with two playoff teams, including the Seahawks.

The "if" on St. Louis is Foles. If they get any decent production out of him, they're going to be a playoff team and a tough out.

I think you should bet the over on the Rams win total. It will probably be around 7.5. This should be a steal for you.
They had back to back shutouts last season, and they improved their defense across he board. They have a real good RB, an all purpose playmaker in Austin and the #10 pick in this years draft. They will be a competitive team if Foles plays at a high level.

I'm not going to fault Allen for being excited especially when he was one of the few Colts with the class to come out and say the ball pressure had nothing to do with the AFCCG we just need to get better. While I don't think it's enough to be championship caliber he can certainly have his moment.

Really? If Nick Foles plays well, then St. Louis inspires more fear than Denver, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Indianapolis, Detroit, or Green Bay? Good to know. Nice post.

Yes he was right did you not see who they beat last year with there 3rd team QB

Gore is trash now, old slow and fat running back. AJ was a good pickup for like maybe a year and then he's the same.

C'mon, man......this couldn't be further from the truth. IND had no running game whatsoever last year, so any kind of reasonable RB is going to give them a significant improvement in that specific area.

Gore had 1,106 yards again last year, which was still a very good 4.3 YPC. He had more yards on LESS carries than he did back in 2007.

He's had 1,000 yard seasons in 8/9 years, and has insanely comparable statistics during the entire stretch.

There's nothing whatsoever to suggest that he's "trash, old, slow, or fat.
" That's a ridiculous statement.

While Indy has certainly made some nice improvements on paper, no one should be suggesting any kind of "dream team."

They were already competitive and a viable contender who has appeared to improve, but statements like that would be really going overboard.

Had the Colts signed Cole, Gore, and AJ in their prime, then perhaps Allen's words would carry a little more weight...

Indy has a passing OL. Gore was behind a power run OL. We will certainly find out if Gore still has it.

The Colts seem more interested in making Andrew Luck look like Andrew Lock than winning games. Putting weapons around him to avoid the flop sweat setting in that he might just a regular good quarterback, and not the next Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers.

A team focused on winning would be more about that defense in short term free agency.

It always boggles my mind when posters open threads like this or the Jimmy Graham thread as if they expect players of other teams to take to social media and say they are "the best team other than the Patriots" or something. I mean what do you all expect the players to not believe they are good?

History shows: don't call yourself the Dream Team. Just. Don't.

didn't Indy already try the whole all offense, no defense thing with Manning??

Allen said he was better than Hernandez at the combine back in 2012 so honestly the kid is lucky to be alive so this isn't the dumbest thing he has ever said.

He also added on NFL AM that he's glad the Colts "finally" have a true #1 WR on Johnson, and that they have "major holes to fill in the secondary". I wonder how did TY Hilton or the current IND secondary felt after those comments.

Kinda dumb to talk to the media if you have no filter for your thoughts.
