Bush to 49ers

I am extremely disappointed more of these talented players have not wanted to join the super bowl champion New England Patriots. A lot of big names we left unsigned.

What are you basing that theory on? A dead protozoan would be a better blocker than Wright.
My post was worded a little confusing, I was saying that I had my doubts on Chandler being better than Wright, but that I definately felt Chandler was better than Hooman. Now of course you can ask me what I am basing Wright > Chandler on, and it's just the eye test. Wright feels like there's much more upside, he's more dynamic, while Chandler is just a very very big dude, and there's a lot of very very big dudes in the league.

When Jake Ballard got here he was a physical reclamation project but eventually needed to retire because his knee was a mess.

Chandler is healthy.
I still can't figure out why Rex cut him in the first place. Was he a cap casualty?

spiller, vereen both got over 4m and I bet bush too..what did helu get?
Helu received 2y/$4m....I loved him too.

Not sure the Pats were in the mix. Seems reasonable $

We just need 2 starting CBs, a starting LG, starting NT, and a 3DRB and we will be in great shape.

1 corner, a #1 corner...Dennard/Ryan and maybe Butler are starting caliber NFL cornerbacks, especially with DMac behind them.

LG...Connolly is sitting there for cheap $$$ if nothing else pans out, I expect. There might even be one or two who could plug in from the draft at that position.

NT is pretty easy right now in upgrading over last year. Rubin, Ellis and others are sitting there and won't cost much. The draft is really deep on the interior DL, too (Jordan Phillips and Carl Davis should both be there...Marcus Hardison will be around post round 2, likely).

3rd down back? Maybe White? Tyler Gaffney? How about Edelman rotating back there with Amendola going to the slot on 3rd?

I wanted Bush, honestly, but it is what it is. i wanted Harvin, but a 6 million prove-it deal is tough, since it's all against this year's cap.

I do think we're in much better shape than we were 2 years ago at this time. Last year, right around this time, we added Revis and Browner. Nothing like that seems to be available, alas.

I don't think you should count on Wright making the team.

Oh well. There are still a few options out there. Bradshaw and Merono can both catch and will both be cheap if they want to go that route. Draft is an option too of course or maybe they just like White?

Also just a note. Anyone know when we can expect to hear about Hooman? Isn't the deadline today at 4?

The deals, especially Gost's, are fine. Seriously, if you're complaining about Gost's contract, you're looking for **** to ***** about.
I'm fine with Gost's deal now, not so much 4 days ago when I thought we had a shot at Revis. I can definately live with it now, he's money.

McCourty I'm iffy about. I can still remember 2010-2013 McCourty giving me headache after headache. It definately seems like he improved, but I'm not convinced it wasn't because the talent around him got better. I have a feeling with lesser corners now, McCourty won't look as spiffy as he did in 2014. He's really good, but he's not elite. He got paid elite money.

Kept McCourty
Kept Gostkowski
Signed Sheard, (likely) upgrade at PR
Signed Chandler, (likely) upgrade at TE
Brought in needed competition for the LS

Those are all plus moves. I grant you that the non-move on Revis still outweighs everything else.
I would add that keeping Amendola on a restructured deal is also a plus.

Cap hit was only 2,850,000 for 2015, but dead money is 600,000 for a savings of 2,250,000. So it saved something but not a real ton. Rex is a ground-and-pound guy on offense so I suspect he would rather have a better blocking tight end for that price. That's the best theory I have right now.

Edit: apparently they're planning on making a run at Charles Clay who has the transition tag. I forgot about that. Would Be using some of Chandler's money on him.

I don't know why this is even a question. McCourty is a tier 2 safety. He's not elite, but he's right in the next bunch. His pay was commensurate with that level of player. Go take a look at what Ron Parker just got for one decent season at the position.

Once again, just early in pre season and I'm already knocked out of Top 10 Pats Homer status :(

Belichick has never been one to hand the keys to the car, so to speak, to a Rookie 3rd Down RB.

Case in point: James White, Shane Vereen, etc.

True. And reports are he is not an accomplished blocker, although his intelligence is often lauded.

I'm actually glad they didn't get any Bush......dynamic but overrated vet where his name is more paper value than on the field. I was more so hoping they'd get Spiller because of his incredible ST value and being younger....he could've been electric in our offense, but not meant to be.

Chandlers signing is a great one though. Gives us a legitimate Gronk backup and true complimentary peice. Tim Wright was never meant for that role but strictly a move TE trying to fill AHerns role.......about the only thing he blocks are toilet bowls, lol

Why does so much of the fan base get surprised by the moves the Pats do.....after 15 years of BB you'd think we all would know the script by now. That's not to say we can't get some out of nowhere moves especially draft wise. Just enjoy the ride and appreciate the FOUR Lombardis.

"I'd kick that *****'s ***. Plus I'm cap-friendly." ;)

Well I don't know how you can call me a homer considering all I've done on this thread is questions their moves...so you can have your spot back and wait for someone else to take it.

Which is why I said I can live with it. They had to overpay to keep him, it was their only option.
