The League Investigating the Jets for tampering this past week

From everything I have heard this week Revis actually never stopped sleeping in his Jets footy pajamas so the stuff about the jets gear will be hard to prove.

Do you think he wore Jets panties under his uniform?

Not looking for blood. Just the #6 pick in round one so we finally get the makeup call for cameragate in 07.

I just used the out for blood because a lot of people are upset. Not a swipe or an indication. Actually saying that this investigation could justify the outrage.

I think that if they find evidence of the Jets talking with Revis prior to the Pats officially declining to pick up the option, the sixth rounder should be on the table.

Coles said the League sent investigators to the Jets' offices to see if they contacted Revis before he became a free agent. They are continuing to investigate.
Who did they send to investigate -- Kensil?

"Hey guys, how's it goin'? Wow -- are those chocolate donuts? Don't mind if I do, thanks. Mmm, this coffee is great. OK, nothing to see here, everything looks ship shape. Tell Woody I said hi. See ya!"

I am expecting nothing from the league, but if somehow we end up with their first rounder, that would complete the perfect season this has been.

Also, had you told me one months ago we could trade Revis for the 6th overall pick, I would probably say no, but I would definitely have to think about it.

NFL inspector interrogation at Jets HQ:

BTW, how awesome would it be if the NFL voided the Jets/Revis deal?

With the 6th pick the Patriots should draft Mariota and sign him as a camera man/ ball boy.

Hmmm . . . this didn't take long. :) From Wikipedia:

Second stint with the Jets[edit source | edit]
§2015 season[edit source | edit]
The New York Jets signed Revis to a five-year, $70 million contract with $39 million guaranteed on March 10, 2015.[71][72] The Jets are, however, the subject of investigation into two separate cases of tampering. The New England Patriots filed tampering charges against the Jets on January 18, 2015, over comments made by Jets owner Woody Johnson that violate the NFL's anti-tampering policy.[73] The NFL is also investigating whether the Jets began negotiations with Revis while he was still under contract to the Patriots.[74]

The article said that the NFL sent some guys over to the Jets' headquarters. I wonder if they are investigating, or were sent by Goodell and Kensil to bring Woody Johnson a pizza to celebrate the Jets getting Revis from their arch-enemy Bill Belichick.

Could you imagine the Jets losing or having to swap one of their first 3 picks (hopefully 1st pick) this year, with the pats, then losing their third pick next year to the pats (compensatory pick ), Jets fan would lose it.

There's still absolutely no precedent for that kind of punishment for tampering. That said, I can see the league being EXTREMELY pissed, if they told Woody, "Hey, we're going to let your comments in the press conference blow over, then give you a slap on the wrist fine to acknowledge it. Just don't do anything stupid, okay?" Then he goes out and blatantly tampers again, signing the player he was originally referencing. If I were the NFL, the Jets would walk the plank.

Again, there are three considerations that make it at least plausible, albeit highly unlikely:
(1) Johnson is a repeat offender. He was specifically warned about his comments re: DeSean Jackson within the last year.
(2) The punishment was loss of a fifth, and swapping of thirds, for a failed attempt at tampering (Lance Briggs).
(3) There are now allegations of two separate incidents involving the same player—one of which was caught on tape.

It's not likely, but a swap of firsts and loss of a third would be appropriate given the facts above.

It would be an opportunity for Goodell to get back in Kraft's good graces. Woody's moronic statement back in December gives him an open and shut case especially when combined with the fact that they DID sign Revis.

Jets to Manish Mehta: Hey publish these exact numbers and we'll feed you more stuff for helping us get Revis back.
Jets to current Jet player: Hey go talk to Revis' cousin and tell him to read this story and tell him its true

Tamper complete without any contact with Revis or any paper trail. We'll be hosed. No way the NFL finds anything because its so easy to tamper without any evidence.

The anti-tampering policy also specifically prohibits using the media this way.

I was going ot mention the same thing and Revis was not allowed to be contacted in the "legal" tampering period because at the time he was not going to be a freeagent

Were the situation reversed, the Pats would losing a lot more than a 1st rounder.

1st round pick loss, 500k fine. this story would lead sportscenter for the next month.

Brunell would run out of tissues!:D
