The League Investigating the Jets for tampering this past week

Is there anything to the talk about there being evidence of tampering in the photos of Revis with Jets gear on with it being daylight outside the windows?

Anyone know?

It's still light out after 4pm and I didn't think much of it, but maybe there's something to it.

From everything I have heard this week Revis actually never stopped sleeping in his Jets footy pajamas so the stuff about the jets gear will be hard to prove.

Is there precedence for this level of tampering though?

1 - openly courted a player in the press, mid-season, directly referencing his contract, and saying they want him back
2 - hall of fame caliber player
3 - presumably continued to tamper, illegally, when player was still under contract with another team, and not even a free agent
4 - player signed with tampering party

The closest comp was Briggs, who was a decent player at the time, he didn't even sign with the tamperers.

That's a good question, and obviously there wasn't any precedent for punishment on camera placement in 07. That was more about arrogance in the face of a league mandate, so it's entirely possible that this goes down that path as well. I'm just not holding my breath.

One thought that amuses me though: I think if the league DID give the Pats (coming off a SB win) the #6 pick because of this, the anger across the other 31 fanbases might set the Earth's atmosphere on fire :)

Huh?
Sun sets well after 6PM

I dont know either. It's why I didn't pay any attention to it as proof of tampering at the time. But I don't want to dismiss any possible evidence either just because I didn't understand the logic behind it in passing.

Thought someone might be able to explain the thinking behind it is all.

That's true. I guess we'll see which way Goodell's coin lands when he makes another crazy arbitrary decision!

Not good. This means that the NFL might award the Pats 1st round and 2nd round draft picks to the JETS as compensation for tampering.... :)

I have zero confidence that the league investigators, based out of new York and who work under Goodell, will find any evidence of their beloved Jets tampering
It's shocking they are investigating them to begin with.

I'm just surprised that the league didn't let the Jets investigate themselves.

The NFL is putting their best investigators on the case...

;)

of course, this means the league was NOT investigating the Jets for tampering when Woodheady opened his big mouth back in January.

krist, this rat infested league office needs to be fumigated...or burnt to the ground

I think it is a separate issue. I think if they find evidence of tampering, it could compound the punishment.

Granted I have a feeling they won't find any evidence.

So the tampering is a separate issue from the tampering. I guess that makes sense. Then again I'm bloodthirsty so I guess that makes me biased.

So, uhmmm...

I wonder if Revis told Belichick what the Jets offer was on Monday before Belichick politely stepped away from the bidding?

I wonder if Belichick recorded the conversation?

Hmmm....

From everything I have heard this week Revis actually never stopped sleeping in his Jets footy pajamas so the stuff about the jets gear will be hard to prove.
He wore his Jets pants underneath his Patriots pants, like Michael Jordan wore his North Carolina shorts under his Bulls shorts.

The Pats lost Revis because they didn't have the same money, terms etc. Whether his "heart" was with NY is irrelevant. Sucks that Revis is gone and the Pats and fans just need to deal with it and build a winner.

However...

With Woody's moronic comments and the suspected tampering by the NYJ (which we all know happened), I'm sorry but an additional mid round pick or swapping picks doesn't cut it. The NYJ altered the competitive landscape of the division by negotiating with a player who was under contract with another team.

This has to be considered a big deal (which is seems?) and compensation that is commensurate with losing a player of Revis' quality MUST be considered.

I know it won't happen but I want a 1st.

Don't hold your breath for a quick resolution.

Jets to Manish Mehta: Hey publish these exact numbers and we'll feed you more stuff for helping us get Revis back.
Jets to current Jet player: Hey go talk to Revis' cousin and tell him to read this story and tell him its true

Tamper complete without any contact with Revis or any paper trail. We'll be hosed. No way the NFL finds anything because its so easy to tamper without any evidence.

Just the mention of losing a first is enough to drive Jetsfans nuts! :)
