Guaranteed for '15: when #Patriots align in YY w/ #Gronk & 6'7" Scott Chandler next to 6'8" Solder, the right OLB won't be able to see ****.

That is epically funny (and true!).

Chandler has averaged 45 catches a year for the last four years, with the Buffalo QBs. What's really exciting is thinking of the implications of Gronk and Chandler on the field for all those jumbo packages Belichick was playing around with last year.

This 2 TE package is a matchup nightmare. Run Blount behind wham blocks. Throw to one giant TE. Throw to the other giant TE. Nobody has the defensive personnel to deal with that.

Wright plus picks for Keenan Allen? Im not sure how much longer this fire sale will last

I think you mean Keenan Lewis. I'm not sure what would be needed to get him. One who interests me is Akiem Hicks, a 6'5, 318b NT. I liked him in the draft and he might come a little cheaper.

It's been said numerous times, but I love how our offense is the most diverse in the NFL:

WR1 Edelman
TE1 Gronk
TE2 Chandler
RB Blount
FB Develin

vs.

WR1 Edelman
WR2 Lafell
WR3 Amendola
TE1/WR4 Gronk
RB Bush (likely)

old school football to pound the finesse teams like the Coltsand then the spread attack to beat the stout front 7 teams like the Bills/Lions

Not to nitpick but I believe LaFell was fielded over Edelman in your "big boy" formations after he caught on mid season, though it may have also been for Edelman maintenence reasons, his body hasn't always agreed with him.

Thank god the Ravens didnt get him. Those ****ers are a pain in the ass as it is.

Miguel with the subtle reminder:

CapSpace=$12,389,937 ‏@patscap 1m1 minute ago
Reminder that Hoomanawanui is soon due a 300K roster bonus.

Not that its a ground breaking amount, but if he's a redundant player there is little reason to pay it, IMO.

If I read Miguel's cap page correctly it says $400K bonus

It's irresistible (to me) to cut Hooman asap and allocate his $1.4M cap to offset whatever we gave Chandler.
Really like the move.
Pats 2015 will be a quick, short passing possession offense to counteract all the opposing DL beef.

I see tons of Bills coverage in my area and I would say that Chandler is an average blocker but an able threat is all that is really important with him. Besides, we have Fleming for that blocking job.

Chandler's true value will be down in the red zone where, combined with Gronk, they will be almost un-coverable. Add Wright, who seems to have a penchant for being open in the RZ and ..... holy moly batman.

I have so far seen the following reports:

Scott Chandler blocks well.
Scott Chandler's blocking is average.
Scott Chandler can't block.

I no longer have any idea which to believe. Truthfully, I'm not sure how much it matters. We aren't a smoke & mirrors team that is hiding what they are doing out there. When we want to run, we bring in a 6th OL like Fleming and run right down you. When we want to pass, we don't mind putting guys like Wright out there that couldn't block for their life. We did a little more of the disguise stuff with Hernandez, yeah, but he couldn't really block either. The point was to get him going against a guy he could block.

The only value Chandler's blocking will bring is as a Gronk backup - which, yes, could be important. But, in his role otherwise, he'll be on the field to catch passes.

In the dominoe effect department, this also means that Cameron Fleming can concentrate more on being part of the OL proper full time instead of just the overload package. This affects depth not only on the TE squad, but also on the OL.

Not my field of expertise, but for what it's worth I was quoting Miguel directly off of Twitter, haha

Personally I feel a 3TE goalline package with Gronk, Chandler, and Wright would be particularly deadly, given the TDs they produced last year and the fact each of them can line up out wide.

Nice pickup, should help in red zone and perhaps become another viable 3rd down option...but didn't we say the same about jake ballard?????

except that chandler has actually caught passes.....quite a few of them.....now I've heard questions on his blocking, but who cares.......a 2 TE set with gronk and chandler basically nullifies EVERYTHING that AFC east opponents have done defensively. there is simply no way to account for that........revis should have taken browner with him to NY rather than cromartie........who is revis going to cover? LAFell?

I think this too. He probably wants to get TE1 reps, which he'll get in Baltimore. In New England, he would just compliment Gronk.

I must say, Gronk, your ability to catch balls in traffic is most extraordinary! Playing with you has been an honor! Do you mind if I block this annoying fellow?

This signing made too much sense. He killed the Pats so many times over the middle, it wouldn't had been right to let him join the Ravens.
