Reiss thinking Reggie Bush will be a Patriot

After a little thought. I think bush would be a great addition. My main concern is his health, and how much he has left on his tires at this point in his football career. I just went back and looked at some film of him from 2013, and when healthy, he's a major upgrade over Vereen. I think if we used him on a limited basis, and mostly 3rd down, he could bring a lot to the table. The issues with him last season was, I think they over used him early on in the season. Hopefully he signs with us.

Just look at the catching and screen portion of this highlight tape from 2013, and tell me thats not a upgrade over Vereen. If we use him as we did with vereen, I think he could bring a lot to the table.

Bingo. Vereen has had a couple of outstanding GAMES. Bush has had 3 pretty damn good seasons in a row as recent as 2011-13. I think we can keep him healthy by using him almost exclusively as a receiver. Which is basically what Vereen did.

5 pretty receivers in our nickel package on offense; Gronk, Edelman, Bush,LaFell and Amendola. Pick your poison. Your good corner to two can take 2 of them. Who's gonna cover options 3-5?

I really don't understand the hype around Bush. I would have rather had Helu. If not him, there are some pretty decent options that are available in the draft.

Despite Vereen's very impressive SuperBowl performance, I always felt BB/OC never had the same amount of faith in Vereen that they clearly had with Woodhead and Faulk. My personal belief is that there is an under-utilization of the 3rd down back in the NFL. Just from watching Patriots games and there inability to contain the pass catching back...often times allowing the RB to roam unchecked....I view the 3rd down RB as the ultimate scheming tool, much like TE. With teams deploying their most athletic/fast OLB to cover TEs more and more, that creates a potential 3rd down RB/LB mismatch that deserves to be exploited more fully. Can they get that kind of impact from a rookie 3rd down RB....especially when his blocking ability has to be depended on......No way. A vet will be brought in. Too me, Bush is an enigma. I view Matthew Stafford as a big armed QB that lacked touch, much like our boy Mallet and I never understood what Detroit was trying to accomplish with Bush. The guy should never have been relied on as a featured back.
The right questions are:
How's his pass protection blocking?
Will he accept a defined role that limits opportunities?
Will he accept a contract commensurate with his defined role?
How hungry is he to win? For NFL "stars", it is difficult for them to accept subordinate roles. Personally, I think the idea of prime time games has to be appealing...and despite his likely reduced role in a NE offense, you know the media will milk the Bush name for every ounce regardless of the actual on field impact. Ocho ****head certainly retained his cache despite catching 6 balls all year.
WHY NOT (if he can block)

Saints have signed CJ Spiller. Looks like it's down to us or San Fran.

And remember Bush had his best rushing season with two guys that are on the Pats staff now. Daboll and Gug. Daboll was the OC in Miami and Gug was the OL coach.

If you're a Reggie Bush where your body can't handle 20+ touches and would prefer 5-10 max. It only makes sense to go and play for a team with a top level QB and make yourself look good.

Field Yates is saying that Bush is visiting today. Let's hope he doesn't leave without a contract.

Bush plus Evan Mathis would go a long way towards compensating for the Revis loss.

It seems pretty clear that, at least so far, we're heading for a return to "We'd better outscore them, boys, because we're not stopping anyone".

Fake Ryan O'Halloran says Bush to the Jags. I didn't know people faked Ryan O'Halloran...

I swear to god I just saw a post by someone saying Bush signed a deal with the Jags but I guess he just deleted it because how could that not be fake?

there's the draft to come. We've only lost one player (I'm not convinced Browner is a huge loss). I do like what they are doing on offense though. Revis isn't replaceable and we weren't in the race to sign him so I'm not that bothered. It is what it is. By adding pass rush and (hopefully) scoring more points on offense, they've mitigated the loss somewhat.

I deleted it immediately because it was a fake. hoped to delete it before anyone saw it. Almost made it.

Browner was a huge loss, albeit mostly as part and parcel with Revis. The Patriots have done nothing to fix this problem. Hopefully, that's coming.

"So far" is the key to everything in March.

sign the beast

If Reggie Bush signs with the Patriots no Defense could stopp us on 3rd and forever. Bush is really a WR in the backfield. Bush with the ball in his hands would make the us say Vereen who? Bush on the Patriots would make us the Greatest show on grass or turf.

For all those lamenting Revis’ departure…. Remember… Revis was once upon a time a draftee as well…. a first rounder, but a draftee nonetheless…. You never know who may fall to our laps.

At least Kim K wouldn't be coming with Bush. That alone would make me not want to sign him.
