Compensatory draft pick for Revis

It was a 5th round pick for Stallworth (George Bussey)

As of Thursday 3/12, the Patriots net would be the maximum four compensatory picks.

The signing of Jabaal Sheard cancels out the loss of Brandon Browner.

3rd - Darrelle Revis
6th - Shane Vereen
6th - Jonathan Casillas
6th(?) - Akeem Ayers

I'm just guessing with Ayers, as the terms for his contract have not yet been made public.

Have I missed anyone?

Ayers got a 2-year deal for $6 million, $3M apy, with incentives up to $10M.

Which puts him in 6th round comp territory.

If wilfork signs for 6mill as some have speculated, we could add close to 200pts to our draft value next year.

Thats about the same as us moving all our picks up from 32 to 26, which doesnt sound like a ton, but definitely opens up a lot of possibilities.

We can also hope that we get picks if Connoly and Ridley get signed to..both most likely 6th and 7th round guys.

The maximum amount of picks you can get is 4.

On the other hand should that (departure of Connolly and Ridley) happen, then the Patriots could sign two more free agents that have not been cut by other teams, and still retain their current compensatory position of four additional draft picks in 2016.

The Patriots received compensation in 1997 from the Jets for tampering with Bill Parcells in the form of four draft choices: "The Patriots received third and fourth-round picks in the 1997 NFL Draft, a second-round pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, and a first-round pick in the 1999 NFL Draft in compensation for allowing Parcells to become the Jets' head coach.[12]"

That was before we singlehandedly destroyed the league's concept of top-down "parity" by winning 4 SBs in14 years, going to 6 (almost half of them) and going to 9 AFCCGs... and before the JEST snagged the ultimate "compensation," having one of their employees elevated to league czar.

The NY Cheats will be penalized by having to flip the coin best 2 out of 3 in the coin toss in 2019 before their first regular season game.

Would the APY go up if those incentives are likely to be earned (if it applies)? I doubt they have had a chance to analyze that yet.

Brady's contract is 3 years, 27 million, 0 guaranteed, 27 million not guaranteed.

Revis's contract is 3 years, 48 million, 39m guaranteed, 9 million not guaranteed... plus 2 more years at $22 million, not guaranteed.

1) Revis nearly doubled the contract value of the GOAT quarterback over the next three years.

2) What makes that contract reach 2x or 3x the worth? Almost all of it is guaranteed! Even if you only look at the 39 that's guaranteed, that's still 12 million more than Brady's not-guaranteed money.

3) Revis is also currently on contract to earn 11 million per year in year 4 and 5. Even that reduced number is also more than what Brady makes per year, right now.

How could the Jets possibly offer Revis a contract 3x better than Brady's recent one? The absurdity of the offer adds to the idea that the Jets have been trying to lure Revis in for months, not days, and the comments by the owner were not just wishful thinking but an invitation to ask for any amount of money he wants.

I'm fairly certain that the Jets will be penalized and heavily. You not only have Johnson's comments, but you also have the contract offer to Revis going being publicized before the legal tampering started..

That's two HUGE violations. And it was clear from Kraft's reactions at the SB that he's not going to take things lightly anymore.. Not with the BS the league and the Colts/Ravens tried to pull..

Thanks for the updates on this aspect! Agreed we are in good shape.

That's a great question.. I'll start digging to see if that's the case.
