Sign the Beast XL: Pats trying to trade for Philadelphia Eagles G Evan Mathis

What happens if we trade for him and then he decides to retire? Do we get a compensatory draft pick?

Even if he only plays one season for us if he could bring a Brian Waters type OL solidification it would be monsterous. Bring back Connolly and have him compete with Wendell for the other Guard spot + draft relatively high.
If we bring in Mathis then I don't really see the need to bring back Connolly. Wendell was better than him last year. I'd rather take a guard early in the draft(2nd round or so) and let him compete for a starting spot and hopefully take over for Mathis in a few years(Mathis isn't exactly young, so not a long term solution).

He's awesome.
Have you ever wondered why good playmakers seen to appear every year in Philly and then disappear once they have changed cities? Do you think it's because they have a good QB or somethin?

Nope, Peters and Evans make for one of the best duo in the league for quite some time. Every RB would like to run behind those guys and every QB has a decent time to throw. I am all in for Evans, we could even spend a middle round pick on a replacement this year and groom him.

Sign the beast (version MMDCCXIII)

Don't give up on Dennard, he was hurt last year and Browner took his spot. He played well the year before that.

As long as the price isn't too steep, Mathis would be a great pickup. He's exactly the kind of mobile lineman that the Pats like, and he should come fairly cheap given his age.

Played well in the season opener too. Had 1 pick, could've had a second IIRC.

All day yesterday I was half-expecting an Amendola-to-Eagles deal to be announced. Well maybe they restructured him in order to trade him?

Eagles have a big need at WR, Amendola is Bradford's boy, it makes perfect sense.

You know, I never thought of this, but yeah, Bradford LOVES Amendola.

You might be on to something here.

He's a clear and decisive upgrade over Wendy or Conolly. In a perfect world, get Mathis, keep Conolly. Or get MathiS and draft a kid who is Stork part deux

sign this monster!!! he still has at least 2 years left in him.
profootballfocus graded him as the 2nd best guard.

with that being said, we will miss out.:D hope im wrong and he doesnt join one of our rivals. we need a strong line since we'll play against great d-lines..jets, fish, bills..

I'd rather keep Wendell. Love Connolly, but Wendell is a backup Center and filled in very well.

B/R Team Stream claims 5 teams in the mix, lists NE, BUF, MIN, NO, and STL as interested and MIA as a "potential suitor".

NO makes NO sense, since they just traded a very good Guard away and are fielding offers for half of their roster.

the saints...im reading on the twitter that they'll trade stills....maybe a mathis/stills swap?

With whatever the hell Chip Kelly is smoking, Bill should be able to grab Mathis for a 6th rounder + Boyce or something

I want Mathis but I just want to point out WTF is happening in Philly??? They sign both Ryan Mathews and DeMarco Murray and already had Darren Sproles... They trade away Nick Foles for Sam Bradford... I admire Chip Kelly's brass balls but I honestly have no idea what his plan is.

Do you play 2 backs on the field all the time? It seems ridiculous to have Ryan Mathews as your second-string back. Their receiving corps is uninspiring, so seems like they would wanna run it a lot, except then why are they trading Mathis???

I believe Ryan Mathews hasn't signed that contract yet, he can just walk away.

He just did a bit ago as reported by several media members including Breer.

The Eagles are in the process of trading offensive lineman Evan Mathis, a source tells @LesBowen

Never gonna' happen.

In the process is such a tease! Does it mean working on a deal or a deal is already agreed upon and they are ironing out paper work/processing it?
