Amendola restructures contract

He gave up money to stay here, without a doubt. probably quite a bit.

Before anyone disagree with that, see Casillas, Jonathan.

Ya probably. Miguel has them at $9.9m and that's without the Amendola restructure. So if it does free up $2.1m which Mike Reiss is guessing. Looking at $12m free
I'm happy to keep him so long as he restructured. And he did so. I like what he showed in the second half of the season...if only he can stay healthy.

Good news. I want to keep as much of the offense together as possible. They had developed tremendous chemistry by year's end.

Great for Danny we are pretty much set a WR now.

Bravo Danny..... Bravo. "Very Patriot-like" move. I like it. He may not be the greatest WR, but winners want to win, and are willing to turn down a few bucks to play on a winning team. Welcome Back Mr. Amendola.

eh I woudn't be expecting it. If anything they are working on Vollmer. Just note who Solder's agent is: Welker and Vereen's agent. Some bad blood there. Although maybe Solder likes being a Patriot and tells his agent "do your job and keep me a Patriot"

Solder doesn't strike me as a team guy, he's a pro who does his job. He doesn't celebrate much on TDs and in the beginning of last season with that crap OLine Brady was tooking big hits and he didn't even help his QB to get up as noticed by @Joker after the Raiders or Chiefs game. He seems to be an OK teammate, not in McCourty's league though, not even close. Of course I might be totally wrong. Anyway, an extension for him seems to be one of the next steps, he had a bad season but we know he can do his job, a left tackle in the open market will cost a lot. We need to focus on solving the internal issues at guard.

Whatever cut Amendola took the team should have just given straight to Edelman.

Seriously, JE must be the most underpaid player in the NFL, and I'm not even sure what he makes.

(For anyone) How much money would JE fetch as a free agent right now?

I'm okay with Amendola staying but still want us to bring in a deep threat. I think Harvin would be great.

I would think he would fetch at least as much as what Randall Cobb just took from GB. And that was a discount deal for the Packers.

I am glad for him. I think he has really turned a corner and most likely has changed the way he has worked out to help reduce injury. The latter half of the season he really seemed like a different player.

I am waiting on a mayo restructure or maybe he doesnt wanna restructure. Cant stay healthy the last couple of years.

Well, yes and no. At his original deal, the Pats may have kept him this year (dead money hit), but it was just a matter of time before he would be cut (sometime between now and March 2016). So, depending on his value in the open market, he may or may not have given up money to stay.

This is the win/win scenario for the player and the club. It seemed obvious, but it's always nice when it works out that way.

The best thing: fans can get off his back because his contract is now more or less in line with his role on the team (solid slot/3rd WR).

He can't restructure until he passes a physical. It will be a while before we can free up some of his money. Which we will need to do.

Do we really want Harvin though? Besides the money I've heard he's a terrible locker room guy. Yes, I know, we've taken Moss and DIllon in the past, but still.
Moss and Dillon were problems because they hated losing, Harvin is a flat out loser. Pats just driving up the price for the Bills. Please use the savings to beef up our lines.

Happy to have him still on our roster, and with a reduced cap hit no-less. It's a shame it took him so long to gel with the offense and with Brady, but the fact is you can't deny that he's been a productive part of that offense since the end of the year up to the Super Bowl victory.

Tough player who will hopefully blossom into what he was originally signed to be, looking for a nice productive year for him next year. Glad to free up some extra cash, as well.

I think the Mayo restructure will be to sign draft picks. Miguel thinks can save 4-5m. Once he passes his physical. That will do the trick.

$8-10 million.

BTW, sorry for the duplicate post. I really did check to see if there was already a thread before adding one. Alas, I discovered a flaw in the "blocked poster" feature. The thread was invisible to me. Sorry.

Ian, I have a board feature request: When certain keywords are typed into a message, before the user can post it a little message should pop up like the paper clip in MS Word that says (in Mayo's example): "I see you're writing a post about Jerod Mayo! Is it about his contract? Did you know he can't be restructured until he's healthy due to CBA regulations?"

Other examples:

"I see you're struggling to spell Hoomanawanui! Would you like me to change it to Hooman because no one really cares?"

"I see you've said the Patriots should sign Andre Johnson! He's signed with the Colts so we're going to change your post to the following image:

He made a very smart move
