Every little helps

It sounds like they've known Amendola would restructure for a while and they've still shown interest in Harvin, so I think the thought is that they could coexist.

How much cap space does this save?

This is good news, I wonder how much cap space it saves exactly.

Amendola wasn't our workhorse, but he damn well came through when it mattered most and never let us down with a bad drop. It felt like every catch was on a crucial third and long and he made tacklers miss to move the chains with the game on the line.

I think it's only a matter of Josh McDonald figure out a role for him in this offense and he may have a break out year because he looked healthy and shifty again at the end of the season and playoffs. When he joined the Patriots the training camp reports were that he and Brady got a good chemistry together, the pre-season games were promising and he had an outstanding game against Bufallo in week 1, that groin injury buried his 1st season here that's the truth, also Edelman came up strong which made difficult to compete once healthy again.

So when you look at all this facts, I think a little more patience can pay big dividends, also, the performance he had in the playoffs already paid off his contract so far.

Whatever cut Amendola took the team should have just given straight to Edelman.

Great news. Hopefully the new cap figure gives us room to sign an impact DT and harvin.

That would be an interesting combination.

What were we going to pay him originally over the next three years?

@DougKyedNESN: No. Still could sign another WR. RT @bub71: @DougKyedNESN Does this mean were not going to target a receiver this off season?

Question for everyone:

Hypothetical:

Edelman
Lafell
Harvin
Amendola

How would we utilize them all to justifying paying each of them 4mil+? (Lafell 3)

Seems like overkill

@Brady6 suicide watch.

According to @Eric_Edholm on Twitter Harvin will be on his way to Foxboro for a visit in case the Bills don't sign him:

@Eric_Edholm: Received slightly unclear text but believe Percy Harvin will visit #Patriots today if doesn't sign with #Bills. Sorry if already reported.

Let's goooooooo!!

Haters gonna hate. I knew from the get go this was a great addition when we signed him in 2013. Not only is he a clutch playoff performer, he's a super team player who puts the team ahead of personal desires.

Could another big signing be on the horizon? Maybe this means we're bringing Harvin or Knighton into the fold.

One can see the value of DA based on the playoffs and games toward the end of the season (including that important depth needed for a critical position). If he is productive similar to that stretch of time, this is a solid restructure. It makes DA's cost to production more in line (though due to the incorrect production for pay over the past two years and the 'dead' money it brings, his production to pay is in line only on an actual current paycheck basis).

Production in line with cost is one thing the Patriots mightily depend on to remain the winning team they are.
