Excellent addition. I saw earlier Pats were interested was hopin this would be done deal.

Nooff the field issues either. He was the 2013Walter Payton Man of The Year

Strangely expensive for him I think. Think he'll do well here though.

Its the best way to make up for a poor secondary which we seem likely to have next year
They'll get some better talent in the secondary but yes- getting more consistent pressure on the Qb is more important this year.

Sheard has already introduced himself to TFB....

I think Tyms and THE Malcolm Butler were Lombardi guys last year. Not sure who else.

Malcolm Butler was brought in by our head of DB scouting as his one guy he could give a shot at training camp. I don't think lombardi can be attributed for him being brought in.

They absolutely do, Arrington Dennard and Butler have all played well at time but they just lost their two starting CB and there will be a drop off

Didn't see much of Sheard. Who's a better edge rush him or Ayers?

Looks like 6/5 to me.

$4mm up front, $1mm salary in year one with a $1mm roster bonus. $4mm salary with a $1mm roster bonus in year two.

Assuming the $4M is a signing bonus that greats prorated, the first year would be $2M prorated SB, $1M salary, $1M roster bonus, and the second year would be $2M prorated SB, $4M salary, and $1M roster bonus, yeah?

That also means that if he doesn't perform the Pats can cut him and save $5M against the cap, if I'm reading right.

People really need to realize that the Patriots are just getting started and there will be many moves between now and opening day. Revis is a huge loss but but his only ring is with the Patriots so ultimately he is the loser in that move. Belichick and Brady have won 3 Super Bowls without Revis. He's never won one without them, and he is not likely to win one with the jets.

good move, we needed another pass rusher. give ninko/chandler a break.

would of loved if we got boiling from the bengals.

I like the Pats are building the front seven. This free agency definitely has more impact players in those areas than in the secondary. I agree that they are going to replace Revis with a better pass rush. Not some magically appearing free agent CB.

Sheard, easily.

Good news. Looking forward to see how he'll do in this defense.

So it's safe to assume on passing downs it will be Jones and Sheard on the outside, and Easley as one of the inside rushers. If we can get Knighton or Fairley, that's a good group on passing downs.

I still also want them to give Collins more opportunities rushing the QB. He has such an advantage athletically.
