But what upper echelon CB? Who? Unless theres a trade there aren't any

I don't think I'm as concerned about losing Revis as I am the fact that there don't seem to be any viable replacements in free agency. The fact that they refused the 2m dollar option on Browner didn't make it any better.

In other words, it's not "just" about losing Revis.

That said, they still went to the SB in 2011 with one of the most pathetic secondaries in NFL history, although I'm still not sure how...
I know this will make everyone sick to their stomach, but hey father of 12, you want a ring to show off to your troop? Come play here. (and the dude is good, all BS aside).

Combined with the photo op with him and all the Jets stuff I'm sick. He was always planning to go back to the Jets again wasn't he? Way to screw us by making us think you actually wanted to be here Revis.
Good for him, he must like losing

Season opener..

Make it happen commish

The precedent this sets for future contracts, man did Revis take them to the cleaners....

Robert Kraft will send him his SB ring via USPS. 2nd class mail.
These Jest are clever. They finally have found a way to bring the ring to New York. Doesn't work one way, try another - smart football :)

Oh well. I hope no one bought his jersey. He always felt like a rental but I had hoped I was wrong. Didn't see how I could be though.

Too bad for him he calls that loser organization home, though.

You know, it's funny, but this year's team gave up 31 to the Ravens and were one 1-yard play from giving up 31 to the Seahawks. I know I "felt" better with the defense we put out there, and the 4th quarter run at the end of the year was pretty astonishing, but this is still Tom Brady's team and if the Ravens comeback(s) and the Seahawks comeback don't prove that, nothing will.

The NFL WANTS churn. They want to win March and the draft month, too. The league isn't designed for a team to stay on top for more than a couple of years (the draft staying 32-1 round after round is proof of that). And still, the Pats always seem to be there.

Well said, despite this travail and all of the proceeding ones.. the Pats Reign has continued, was listening to the Sports Yakkers yesterday and heard someone say that we made it to the "Final Four" the last four years in a row.. that is very incredible.

Do not listen to the "Dirge" which will inundate all of talk radio today..

You do have to applaud his loyalty to the team that drafted him. Even if it is the Jets.

It's kind of odd to see the word "loyalty" applied to Revis. How loyal to the Jets was he when he took all the up front bonus money and then threatened to sit out?

Didn't Revi$ al$o $ay that he didn't have to be the highe$t paid CB in the league? I gue$$ he changed hi$ mind for $some rea$on.

I hope Mevi$ shatters both knees on the first day of TC and never plays another down again.

Being the Face of a Franchise and the $$$$$ that comes with it was all that was Important to Mevi$ a crying shame. I hope I'm alive to see the HOF induction ceremony of him in a Jets uniform with his one Pats SB ring so I can Boo him to take it off!

If we really think about it, it must suck being a Jets fan knowing their all time franchise best player had to leave and go to the team they hate the most to win his only Championship....

Not only that, but we had him only for 1 year costing us $12M. That's a bargain compared to what the Jets just paid.

Thanks Revis!

I'm still perplexed. Bob and Jonathan Kraft roll out a bunch of disingenuous corporate BS and pleasantries constantly, but we're OK and tolerate it.

Revis went to a team that was willing to throw a whole lot of money at him, makes a few comments to appease the fans of the team that just signed him....and he's dead to us?

It's a business guys. A more refined version of the WWE. You have your heroes and heals and they all play a role. In the end, they play because it earns them money and provides long term financial security for their families. They appreciate the fan adulation, but they know that one bad turn of a knee and they become a footnote (if they're lucky) in the fans minds.

Revis may have some nostalgia and feelings for the team that drafted him, but make no mistake....much of that loyalty is linked to the checks that will be deposited into his bank account.

Sadly this is what all pro sports have evolved into. Money making machines where the importance of the fan begins and ends with your fanny in a seat at Gillette or plopped in front of your TV on Sunday.

In the Patriots case, they have generated enough equity with the fans that the fannies won't be leaving seats anytime soon.

I know some are reeling but most Pats fans have been respectful to Revis. We knew what we were getting.

I blame TV for the way sports has changed. They upped the ante for everyone.

The players stopped being athletes and became entertainers, only some of their schtick isn't entertaining.

This is really really really unnecessary.

Those are the posters that I think of when Mayo goes down two years in a row, or Gronk, Big Vince or any other player is lost.

No beef with Revis. He helped us win another championship and went to get his money from NY. I have not lost any respect for him
