Not sure, but why wasn't Mayo one of the first cuts or restructures? Was there no cap savings? IMO he was always over rated and definitely proved to be expendable, as he was out for the majority of the season.

Can't be restructured until he passes a physical due to his injury guarantee.

His guarantees make cutting him of little value and Miguel has explained several times that he needs to be healthy to restructure as players sign on their contract that they're in excellent physical shape.

I would also take the other side of the "over rated" argument. There were times when mayo was an absolute wrecking ball, flying across the field...I'm sure if you look back you can find dozens of threads on this very forum labeling him as a top LB in the league.

That said, his more recent injury history has set him back, but no reason to believe he can't be productive.

With mayo back in the fold I think LB becomes our strength-- especially given our losses at DL and DB.

So how did we mess with Vince last year then?

BB has gushed about Mayo's locker room leadership. He had explicitly stated that Mayo, unlike most leaders, is considered a leader by the O and the D, and is perhaps the most respected player in the locker room.

So what? He's still way, way over-paid.

The Revis, Browner, and Wilfork moves had to happen yesterday because of bonuses. There are still a ton of moves left to be made this offseason, most of which don't have such a strict time constraint. It's far too early to be complaining that something hasn't happened yet. Free agency is only 18 hours old.

There's actually no need to rush on Mayo...plenty of cap space and honestly, Revis was never about cap space......and regardless of what the Pats did, they would be where they are now....
I'm actually ok with their secondary situation.....the DL is a much bigger concern to me
