The Most Egregious Case of Tampering Ever

Imagine if we actually swapped first rounders with the jets, it'll not only screw the jets but also philly. Lol.

The Pats were actually compensated pretty well for that.
True, but not as a punishment for tampering. the Jets forced the Pats hand by the phony consultant position. Tagliabue knowing the consultant BS was a farce, made the parties broker a deal to let Parcells out of the part of the contract that precluded him from coaching for a year. The tampering part was really separate and not addressed.

Eh. The Pats got a 1st, 2d, 3rd and a 4th round pick. That's pretty damned good. I have to think that at least the spector of tampering was hanging over that settlement.

The Reason Woody Johnson did that was so he could get a message across to Revis and let him know he never wanted to trade him.
Revis hearing that softened on the Jets.
AKA TAMPERING.
They frickin signed him Come on Goodell the retribution needs to be value a second at least.
If you get your hopes up for anything more than /maybe/ a swap of 4th rounders, you'll be disappointed I'm afraid.

Just read an interesting article on patspulpit http://www.patspulpit.com/2015/3/10...-a-1st-round-swap-for-the-jets-tampering-with in 08 the 49ers had to swap their 3rd rounders (no 70 and no 75 overall) with the bears and give up their 5th rounder for tampering with Lance Briggs and he didn't even sign with the 49ers he ended up back with the bears so if kraft and BB use this as precedence a 1st round swap of picks sounds like a possible punishment

You're not that naive to think big ticket items don't require a Kraft seal of approval are you??

You sound like a new fan. Compare the contracts BB walked into when Kraft paid half the team as if they were Revis. BB alone has enforced the fiscal discipline that has kept us competitive year after year.

I bet BB has never turned a negotiation over to Kraft that Kraft didn't approve of. He's a fan and has more money than he knows what to do with.

And a lack-luster effort as Parcells prepared the Pats as they attempted to win their first SB ever.

He's also smart enough to know when to let his guys do their jobs.

He became a lot smarter when he handed the reins over to belichick. given his experience with Parcells, that must have been hard to do.

Anyone with any history with the team knows that Kraft is a fan and spent lavishly before BB came in to ahem do his job. That's what makes the organization great. I love that Kraft enjoys it like a fan and let's BB play the bad guy with the business.

I can't wait to switch some 5th rounders.

do the jets even have a 5th rounder. It'll probably be a 7th round pick in the compensationary area.

Goodell is feeling generous, he'll allow us to swap 4ths in exchange for giving them our 5th

I don't expect much from any tampering case, aside from maybe a fine for Johnson (obviously worth it to him), and a swapping of some late round picks.

Revis chose the Jets and money over taking less and likely winning more here. It is what it is. I hope they go 5-11.
Jets have no fifth it sixth round pick this year.

Woody doesn't care....the punishment will be a slap on the wrist and low round picks...worth it to have revis back
Woody has a fourth and a seventh. Never mind the "I warned you this year, " precedent.

Well, scratch that and go back to a fine + a swap of earlier picks then--possibly even later. Either way, I don't think it will amount to anything worth a damn.

It was a clear cut case of tampering, but we've seen that all over the NFL lately. Goodell didn't choose to do anything about it earlier, so I think it makes it even more difficult to justify now, unless he wants to punish the entire NFL.

Briggs precedent. In this case the guilty party has been warned within the league year in writing (camera placement gate precedent), and signed said player, while continuing leaks to the media. League asked for phone records, and supposedly the pats dropped out Monday, after all the leaks of numbers. Methinks Kraft has somebody's ear, holding future 40 million dollar bonuses ransom.

I mean, I hope you're right--but it reeks of conspiracy theory, so we'll have to see.

I haven't heard anything else about dropping out due to "leaks of phone numbers," so you'll have to understand my apprehension. Nothing personal, as I value your opinion.

swap 1sts..that would be nice. then we could trade back a few spots.

I'm not insinuating the pats dropped out because of the request. Just pointing to the multiple signs that lead to a stronger case against the Jets.

If we did indeed drop out of the running Monday, then the Jets have sine explaining to do. Numbers leaking through the weekend, the picture of revis next to the Jets helmet in clear day light...

As we all know, Wells has a top dollar electronics team to chase down the truth.
