Revis Signs with NYJ

My hope is it involves bringing in a couple of decent corners and upgrading the front 7. A ruthless front 7 makes secondaries look better than what they are.

What decent corners?

He looked pretty damn prime time in the SuperBowl to me. He made a string of awesome plays in the second half. And, HE didn't get rubbed off by a frickn' referree.

Those grapes must be incredibly sour.

While I know there is evidence to the contrary (that the Pats were out of the negotiations since yesterday), I sure hope this deal didn't come down to Pats offering "mid 30 mil guaranteed" and the Jets giving Revis 39 mil guaranteed...cause that would really hurt.

True facts:

1. Not a single poster who criticizes Revis for "being about that $" would turn down the extra $15-20m that this contract is gonna be worth in after tax, after vampire dollars he will be getting above what the Pats offered. If you knock Revis for this you are a non-serious penis type person worthy of endless derision.

2. Tomorrow there will be an insufferable amount of Sports talk radio douchebaggery with a bunch of you droolers calling in about "how come the Pats couldn't pay." Because no one will be talking about how the Jets are the Jets because they do these deals to "win" in the media and the Pats don't because they want to win on the field. And not a single one of you had an objective figure of what he was worth before this beyond "what they couldn't pay Xm more to match whatever the Jets offer?!?!?!"

3. No one will ever hold the Jets accountable at the end of this contract where it ****s them over. They don't have a budget, they are the Jets. They will pay whatever it takes because they are a clown organization and the Pats have an actual walking away point because they are the Pats. No, I'm not happy about losing a top 3 CB, but I ****ing lol heartily at the fact that these super unsexy disciplined moves are the reason why the Pats are the best organization in the NFL by a sizeable amount.

To me, Butler is a slot guy. and potentially, a very good one. However, my concerns are on the outside where Dennard and Ryan are the best we have and not good enough. I guess Dennard is a servicable #2, but he will get chewed up by #1 receivers. Ryan, man don't get me started.

Actually, his legacy will be the best DB of his era, a first ballot hall of famer, and Super Bowl champion, but whatever gets you through the night without wetting your Pats jammies.
F' him. We got what we needed, now he's getting what he nee... wants. Good for him. See ya!!! He's a $$$ whore. He will win nothing in NY, but money. Best DB. awesome, Do they make at trophy for that? No, but it pays well. Just my "get me through the night" opinion.

Having a hall of fame qb. QB is the most important position but our team needs to upgrade that defense quickly. Defense still wins championships .

I have enough of in bill we. Trust and bs from rk the pats blew this should have been. Done long time ago and don't give me ryan and butler r better you have brady for 3 years and ur going to say no wilfork browner nor revis will help us get back sorry this is so. On the pats management

Imagine if McCourty walked as well. This place would be up in flames. I do wonder if the Pats had doubts about getting Revis and made a last ditch effort to reel Devin back in. Because he was damn close to gone by all accounts.

How is this a reply to what I posted?

I disagree with (1), but agree with (3). You have to have a limit. 14 mil was the most I hoped the Pats would pay. You have to have a limit. These teams that try to buy a super bowl just don't. It's been working out pretty good for the Pats by having their limits. We knew Revis was about the $ when he got here, and now he's back to what his agent and him are really about, IMO

Honestly, Revis made the right decision. While winning is great, by the time he turned 32-33 we would start ****ing him around by forcing pay cuts or a potential trade. There is a strong chance he will actually see the end of that contract unless he demands more from them in the future.

I wonder if they didn't give mccourty that $$..would it have went to Revis? Never know

lets see how good devin is now without revi$.

this is ******** belichick. cant wait to hear what tb12 says about this.
probably wonders why he restructures his deal since everyone walks

Not sure I would've ever been 100% comfortable letting Devin walk and hedging my bets on Revis coming back. I don't know if Revis's offer would have gone up much more w/o Devin signing. I tend to doubt it.

Almost all of the players are "about the $" and the ones that aren't have CTE. There's a super marginal calculation when prices are close that incorporates the extra marketing value of being in a big market, or on a winner or whatever but the vast majority of the time this narrative is just fan fodder.

Revis is a smart dude. This is his CAREER. The truth is his career earnings (which is what 100% of people who aren't held to a dumb sports fan standard care about) have been maximized by this move and he's not making enough to where the difference is of negligible marginal utility.

Thoughts on Edelman vs. Revis?

Steve Smith did manage to do some damage on Revis. I wonder if Edelman will have success or we won't look his way during the two games.

Chicken little alert! But this is to be expected from Gronkowski123. This post actually made me laugh.
