Darrelle Revis Appreciation Thread

Thanks for the Lombardi, Darelle. You're a generational talent. I wish you no luck against the Pats.

Now, provided Revis is just a businessman who works for the highest bidder, I can't fault him for going back.... That amount of money is insane. I'd argue that rings matter more than dollars, but it's his choice.

However if he went back out of some sense of loyalty, then I'd seriously question his judgment. Not only is Woody Johnson a moron, but the man that previously coached Revis isn't even a part of the team anymore. I mean, yes, Revis improves the Jets D dramatically, but I don't think his presence on that squad is gonna suddenly turn them into a team capable of making a deep playoff run, not without a decent QB at least.

This isn't meant as a knock but he's shown in the past he's all about the money, so this is what I expected would happen, to be honest.

I have no ill will towards him for leaving though. It was a pleasure to watch him for an entire season and I'm glad he helped win #4.

Well said

There's really just no way the Patriots could compete

Revis gets ALL this money PLUS he's on the golf course in Hawaii by the first week in January every year???

That's almost too good to be true!

With the Patriots even if they match the money Revis has to play all the way to February every season ;)

Less football and more money is apparently what Revis wants and it's what he's going to get - well done Sir!

It was a pleasure watching him for NE 2014. I wish it would have been a long-term relationship, at least one decent contract's worth. He could have been helpful winning a couple more SBs. #appreciated

Now he can eat **** while we win them anyway.

Hear, hear! We would not have won #4 without him.

this thread was much needed. realize how important and special this year was. it was awesome to have him and i'm still not really sure how we got him tbh.... so sad that he left but very grateful that he was here to get us the most important ring since #1

****ing pissed beyond belief but took the time to tweet Revis (doubt he actually reads it) to say thanks for #4. Don't win it without him. Guess you can't blame him for wanting to go "home." Hard to believe he'd rather play for that circus but he's free to make that terrible choice.
I think a big part of the lure of the NY Jets for Revis is that he's THE man on that team. Revis could have stayed here for 10 years and he'd never achieve that status here. NY is HIS circus and don't underestimate that ego stroke re: "coming home".

It is not just about him. This is the type of money that takes care of generations. Kraft has far more money and did not want to pony it up. Goes both ways.
This is wrong on multiple levels. OF COURSE it's just about him! You think Revis went for the few extra million to ensure his great-great-grandchildren will live effortless lives of luxury? Also, you don't know how Revis's exorbitant demands might have skewed the Patriots' salary structure. It's not about Kraft "ponying up," but about putting together a balanced roster under the salary cap. Spending that much on a corner just didn't fit the way New England manages things. Let New Jersey overspend and suffer the consequences.

He was great for us and I do appreciate his contributions. That being said he is once again a New York Jet and I hate him. He made his choice and so be it. I hope he never sniffs the playoffs again.

MEvi$ is a mercenary and very overrated. He's lost a step, nay, two steps, and his impact on the Patriots Defense in 2015 was MARGINAL! OVERRATED! Wake up people.
--half of the board probably.

When you care about every last cent, considerations like that probably don't slip by you.

Yadda, yadda, yadda. Now, would you please dump that outdated sig?

Thanks for the year, say hello to Billy Joe and Bobby Sue!

How many times have we heard this is a business from the teams standpoint and been okay with it? However now that a player treats it as a business and goes after top value, he is being selfish? That is the biggest hippocritical pos ever. I appreciate his effort and contributions and wish him well. All i hope Tom relentlessly goes after him when they play the Jets.

Screw Revis.

Honestly, the Pats' defense wasn't nearly as dominant as I thought it would be. I do have to question whether Revis is fully worth it - or to use the money on multiple guys.

Astounding.
