Revis Signs with NYJ

I wonder what Bill would have to accomplish as a roster builder to earn our trust. 4 rings in 15 years and the most wins in that period and everything else on his resume just isn't good enough.

Any chance the Pats were gathering more Jets tampering evidence during the negotiations before they supposedly dropped out and "allowed to the Jets to bid against themselves"?

You said there was, and I quote, "zero" chance of the Pats improving upon the 2014 squad.

Well its true. Can they win two super bowls next year?

They can only match

Welker was nowhere near important to this team as revis was

No player is more important than the team. Revis included. Let the Jets overpay for him, that's why they suck.

It feels weird that a month ago, this man was a Patriot, hoisting up a Lombardi Trophy and now he's a lowly Jet.

Sucks, but I'm a fan of the team, not the player. We've got the best coach, ownership and QB in the NFL...oh and we're defending champs, in case anyone here has forgotten. I'm not feeling too bad.

Thanks for #4 Darrelle, but I wish you no luck in the future.

Again, Revis can only cover one side of the field.

If the Patriots believed Revis was more important than McCourty, they would have signed him first, don't you think?
Not necessarily. McCourty supposedly took less money to stay.

This reminds me of the chicken littles crying over Welker. Still miss him?

Hey- I was one of those! And no I don't!

That said, I do think that situation was different. He didn't sign for stupid money. And after the fact, it seems like there was more going on there. (I think him and BB legitimately don't get along.) I'm fine with no Welker now and was wrong then. But I think I'm still correct in thinking these scenarios aren't comparable.

With all that in mind, my take on Revis is different. I had hoped he wanted to win more than buy a 2nd Ferrari or whatever that cash is going to. But that's clearly not in his DNA. And if it's not, then I'm glad he's not going to be here. He's a true Jet. And we'll get the satisfaction of watching him get throttled twice a year. So it's win-win for both sides. :D

Yeah, Revis is just "one guy". Go ahead and lump him into that category to fit your homer agenda.
Are we disputing that he is no more than one of 53 players on the active roster? He actually is "just one guy", literally.

But okay, okay...I realize the hyperbole. I'll even embrace it - his worth is higher for a reason. I wouldn't have been mad at NE for paying even 5/$75 for Revis. But I refuse to be upset, or worried, or concerned, that they declined to do so. They need to make good decisions from here out in draft/fa to minimize the loss. But that would have been true anyway, because while they'd have Revis, they'd have 12-16m less money to work with to fill out the roster. So I trust them to flesh out the team in other ways.

Is that my homer agenda? Or should I weep and be angry that a player who spent one year here decided to move on, and proclaim that the Pats have no chance in 2015? Kiss my ass.

It will be interesting if the Pats can get any proof of tampering this weekend. If they get that on top of the other tampering pending case, they could get a decent draft pick from the Jets. Otherwise, don't expect much than swapping a mid rounder.
Coupled with the nfl asking for phone records, and their electronics guru Mr. Wells...I hope so...

Now that revis as joined the sith again, maybe merge and move all his threads?

This makes me wonder if the Jets' ability to frontload, which I don't think the Patriots would have had due to cap constraints, was the ultimate decider.
Exactly.

This is definitely a jest move. You the jest have um-teen holes to fill and you spend crazy money on one player. now opposing teams just throw to the opposite side of the field because you spent all your corner back money on one player. revis will NEVER sniff another championship again.

They spent money on Skrine today too to play the other side (Bedard's #25 ranked free agent). Jets have an elite Dline, good backers in D. Davis/Harris/Coples/Pace and now two corners. They have the #6 pick in the draft. Question as always--can they get good quarterback play? We'll see, but the cupboard is not nearly as bare as you and many others here are suggesting.

Denial? It is what it is. Just fact, he is gone, Pats will move on. Doesn't change a thing to be upset . Neeeext ....

They already have proof. Woody was caught red handed with his hand in the cookie jar. I'd be happy with a 3rd round swap and a 6th round pick. The rule clearly states SEVERE punishment. Tired of Goodell letting the Jets off the hook again and again and again. I didn't buy into this whole thing Joker was spewing years again but it's really come to light. He was right all along.
Warned already this year. Then signs player involved in second infringement to richest positional contact in league history. Swap seconds minimum. Severe fines against CAP as well.

I rather they built the defensive line because I have no faith that bb can put a secondary through the draft.
