Chicken Littles... someone finds your lack of faith...

At this point in free agency last year, we did nothing and lost Talib to the Broncos, who looked like a lock for the Super Bowl. We ended up with Revis, Browner and Lafell.

I certainly wish Revis was coming back but I'm anxious to see what happens next.
Sadly, there is not Revis out there to bring in to replace Revis.

worst case we will play dennard, butler and Arrington in zone as we did before. This is the pats way for so Long. Its not bad.
Defensively it's bad. It's so obvious Revis and Browner gave us a championship caliber defense. Now they are gone. Dennard, Butler and Arrington will get us killed.

He was one guy demanding about 10-12% of the cap space. We're all glad that he fit in for last year and that they won. I don't think it's much of a stretch to see how it's difficult to justify that type of expense long term. The Pats almost never have, except for Brady, who has also basically let them rework his contract at will for whatever flexibility they are seeking that year. You hope the guy (DR), in addition to playing well and producing, will see the value in winning and being part of a winning organization, that maybe he'd stay for a bit less long-term because of it...he didn't. Oh well.

It's entirely possible that Revis really, simply does see the Jets as home, that the possibility of at some point contributing to a single winning team there is more important to him than winning 5 straight SBs with NE.
Based on his previous contract negotiations with the Jets that seems unlikely...but it's possible, especially after being gone for a few years.

But whatever the case, **** him, he's gone. Thanks for the memories and now TB knows more than ever about him so he can smoke him 2x a year for the rest of his career. Just another guy for Gronk to throw out of the club.
Yeah, that last part won't happen. Revis is way to good for that. He's always given TB fits.

As bummed as I am about losing Revis and Browner, when did the db who made the biggest play in the SB become a POS?

Seems to me BB won a Lombardi with Troy Brown at CB. Bill's not dead yet.

Bill has had a tough time putting a secondary through the draft. One player like revis makes a difference. This team has a huge hole on the d line and on the backfield. They will win their share of games but be prepared to see a number of big plays
They arent playing tomorrow. Might want to wait and see what they do first.

BB loves zone defense .he might have played man after the first few weeks when he realized that revis and browner could not fit what he wants to do. People forget that we did not man up till week 5 when revis looked like a bum in zone.

Defense wins championships!! This defense right now is not winning anything. The schedule next year has alot of big time wrs. Its easy to digest because they won the superbowl but brady is gonna have to outscore teams again. Brady is not one happy camper tonight.

The whole "chicken little" thing is getting old & dumb and is rarely warranted.

And as of now, I blame Revis more than the Pats.

Come up with a phrase thats acceptable to you and means someone that is on the opposite side of the spectrum to a "homer" and maybe we will use that instead. And for the record, I personally have never used the phrase Chicken Little and willingly admit it's antagonistic, but after reading sooo many negative posts after any hint of trouble year after year, I can sympathize with why people might want to fight back with it.

While you think about what a more socially acceptable phrase would be, how about calling for a truce on the pejorative use of the word "homer" being tossed about every other post? And since we "homers" have had nine years of homer accusations thrown at us at the very first hint of someone showing some faith or patience with Belichick, I'm thinking you guys on the other side of the spectrum can tough it up and read a few Chicken Little paybacks every time we win a Super Bowl. :)

Well it doesn't have to necessarily be a CB to replace Revis. Maybe we bring in some great pass rushers or build our offense to rival 2007. Maybe a trade happens. Like I said, it's disappointing to lose Revis but we're 6 hours into the offseason.

My view as well...there are other ways to mitigate this situation...I want to see what old man Belichick does before we start throwing the 15 season down the drain..

The Pats were top ten in points allowed in 2013 without Revis or Browner (or Wilfork after the first month). This defense even without those guys is better than the 2013 version because that defense was decimated by injuries and Collins and Hightower hadn't stepped up.

That defense had Talib. As it currently stands, this defense would probably be worse than 2013. I'd say that, at the moment, we have a defense that's in the ballpark of league-average. But I'm not too upset; there's still 6 more months to figure out what we're going to do at CB, and as long as it gets at least somewhat resolved the Pats are still the class of the AFCE and a SB candidate.

I don't blame Revis , he got his ring(thank You) and he took the money. Are you surprised.

Butler is a better player in man defense (not to suggest that he is Revis) look at the number of pass breakups he had. Drafting a CB is now a priority.

Or Mayo, who we theoretically get back. Again.

You DO realize that the Patriots were in three straight AFCCGs in the three years before Revis and Browner?

Not only that but it was combination of injuries and drops that cost us a couple of rings (Talib/ Gronkowski injuries, welker and others with horrible drops during the lastb6 min of 2012 SB).

We have a decent secondary right now and there is a lot of time left in free agency and a draft to strengthen it.

Anybody that wants to sell their season tickets, please let me know as I need a few more to go with the six I have for this upcoming year.

I think they'll be right back in it and win it for back to back.....anybody care to make a charitable wager stating otherwise?
