Revis Signs with NYJ

Yes I did. But he was definitely a rental. Not a career Patriot. What counts is he helped put us over the top for 1 year. So I will thank him for that. I hope he and the jets Fail horribly though. :) No hard feelings!

did anyone really consider Revis a Patriot? never did it for me..he is what he is

Regardless of what moves they make prospectively, I find this to be an inexcusable outcome. You just can't let a player of his caliber go. If the money was the same and Revis chose the Jets, then it's on him. I highly doubt that was the case, though. Brady-Revis-Gronk could have been a borderline legendary trio and it's a shame we only got to see it for one year.

I'm assuming you're trolling, but you know he's not a QB right? He's not worth that money. Yes, we won a Superbowl with him, but at that salary we couldn't have afforded the other talent that won that Superbowl on that team either.

I also don't think for a second he had any intention of coming back here. He got his ring. Now he gets more money, easier practices, less conduct rules, and plays fewer games per season. And he gets to be in his beloved NY where he's the biggest star on the team. (And let's face it, at that money, he's guaranteed to be the biggest star on the team.)

That doesn't mean it's not a big loss for the Patriots. It is. But at that contract the loss was inevitable. There's no scenario where it makes sense to pay that.

The only thing that I'm not happy about is that the Patriots should have moved on from Whore24, right after he refused the first offer.

I think you have it backwards.

McCourty is the backbone of that D, and cleans up pretty good.

Revis can only cover half a field.

10 times out of 10, I would rather keep McCourty over Revis.

You are alone in the universe with that opinion. Revis is older, a much bigger pain in the ass and just got $11M more guaranteed money than DMac. Revis is a far better and more impactful player full stop.

Big loss. No doubt. BB has some work to do to at CB. It would have been great to have Revis next season when Brady is 38. Anyone who says Revis wouldn't have improved the Pats chances of repeating is a fool.

But, Revis turns 30 in July and has already lost one season to injury. The future is unknown and, in cases like this, unknowable. A slip on the practice field or one bad moment in a preseason game could make this a disaster for the Jets.

Time to move on. Personally, I wish him well. He is what he is. The Pats knew it when they signed him.

I doubt Bob Kraft is crying tonight...and neither should we.

Hahahahaha. I got nothing.

This is definitely a jest move. You the jest have um-teen holes to fill and you spend crazy money on one player. now opposing teams just throw to the opposite side of the field because you spent all your corner back money on one player. revis will NEVER sniff another championship again.

This reminds me of the chicken littles crying over Welker. Still miss him?

It's excusable if the signing hamstrings the team. I would have loved to see Revis come back, but they sign him and then what - trade down 20 times just to get enough draft picks to fill the other holes? The Pats have too many other holes to take on that contract.

They are always dumpster fires. Every single one of them.
But it's fun to get caught up in that. That's why we're fans (fanatics) and not.. staff.

GO PATS!

Yes, you can. You won't get a better corner, but you can improve in other areas and be a better overall team.

You're saying that's not possible.

I'm saying I don't trust the patriots and the corner position.

Again, Revis can only cover one side of the field.

If the Patriots believed Revis was more important than McCourty, they would have signed him first, don't you think?

You said there was, and I quote, "zero" chance of the Pats improving upon the 2014 squad.
