Revis Signs with NYJ

he helped the pats win a SB now he can go get his money noting new here we have had players do this every year in this case the pats are the real winners here they don't have to pay a 30 yard old CB 14 million

Thanks for 2014 Darrelle. You got what you came for and you were a big reason for that.

But to be honest... I would not have been all that excited to see the Pats sign him for what the Jets did, with the years and guarantee...

Is there actually a chance we get the Jets' 1st round pick? Or are people just wildly speculating like normal?

It would take more than Woody's offhand and stupid comment to warrant a 1st rounder. Revis going there might get us something but imo we're talking day 3 pick tops.

Game day threads a dumpster fire? That never happens.

The game day threads turn into dumpster fires if the Pats are up three TDs and the Pats defense gives up a single 3rd and long.

Until we see what the Pats do the rest of the offseason, we have no idea what the defense will be like. There will be other chips to fall.
Regardless of what moves they make prospectively, I find this to be an inexcusable outcome. You just can't let a player of his caliber go. If the money was the same and Revis chose the Jets, then it's on him. I highly doubt that was the case, though. Brady-Revis-Gronk could have been a borderline legendary trio and it's a shame we only got to see it for one year.

Yeah not the best choice of words. This is such a big loss, though. It seems like everyone in this thread is in denial.

Patsfans.com, besides the mostly silent posters, basically breaks down into 3 groups. The ostriches will almost never call out the team. The CLs will panic at the first sign of a problem, and the middle is where the rational people hang out. Right now, the CLs are panicking, the Ostriches are pretending there's no problem, and the middle group is trying to figure out how the hell the Patriots are going to fix an obvious, and very significant, problem.

It's playing out in this very thread.

Zero.

Arrington, ryan, Denard, Mccourty, Chung.

That's your secondary core. That core has been burned a hundred times.
So you're saying that the 2015 Patriots team is already set. Interesting.

According to the reports, this is basically over a difference of $4m guaranteed, so the Patriots were quite willing to "overpay".
That sucks, screw him then.

Disappointed.

But let's all be real here, did we really expect to retain Revis after this year?

Revis has ALWAYS been all about money. His stock was again soaring high after a great year and we all knew that BB and the Pats were not going to pay crazy money to keep him.

At least we kept McCourty. I hope we can resign Browner.

And hell, we won our 4th last year and Revis played a huge part. Not all upset but disappointed at the inevitable.

Let's get some pass rushers.

You forgot the delusional ones who think they can run the team better than BB.

I'm a ***** who's been a fan for almost 40 years.
Congratulations?

An unprecedented run of success in the NFL was no defense against you and your 40-year fandom calling ******** on the coach/GM who made it all possible, because of the lack of a signing of ONE guy who played ONE season for NE. And we don't even know the particulars of the failed NE offer yet, nor do we know what will happen in the aftermath (and extended cap space) of the failed signing. And you said **** 'em all, it's horrible.

Yep, I'm calling *****.

Come on man. I'm saying that you don't lose the best corner and get better.

Well said. I get too emotional when it comes to my teams - ESPECIALLY when it comes to massive, franchise-altering outcomes/decisions like this. I try to be as objective as possible, though.

No way we get anything of consequence for the tampering. Everyone thinks Woody is such an idiot, I believe he knew exactly what he was doing, and kept doing it through the media afterward because he knew there would be no consequences.

Just wait until this team can't get off the field on third downs next year. Game day threads will be a dumpster fire.

They were a dumpster fire this year.

No but the secondary was awful in each of the final games in those seasosn

And was one INT away from losing the big one again.

That is simply where our achilles heel is and always has been, for the most part. Every team has their weakness.

I am not happy to see Revis go, but I still have faith the Pats will find a way to be the top of the AFC yet again. There was a lot of distance from the Pats and almost everyone else in the conference. That just shrunk the distance.

Yeah, Revis is just "one guy". Go ahead and lump him into that category to fit your homer agenda.
