Revis Signs with NYJ

Hate to lose him, but I don't think giving a 30 yr old CB that deal is justifiable. Need to bolster the pass rush now. Look at the Cardinals last year. Supposedly one of the best secondaries in the NFL playing in a division with very little passing, and they were one of the worst pass defenses in the league last year. Need a pass rush.

What a ****ing idiot. This guy is a mercenary. Going back to a dysfunctional franchise.. what the **** is he thinking?

In fairness to the kool aid drinkers, the Pats have been to the last four AFCCGs, two Super Bowls during that time, and won the last one. The kool aid drinks may be homers, but their faith in Belichick has been validated.
Hahahahahahahahahahah. You know what, you're right. Whatever the pats do in the present and moving forward doesn't matter because they've had great success in the past. Do people not understand how moronic that point of view is? At least try to be remotely objective, people - I know those rose-colored glasses can obstruct your vision if you let it.

I can't believe the Pats didn't pony up 14 million dollars, that's ridiculous. And only 39 mill of the 70 mill is guaranteed.

Right now I'm pissed at the world. I hate the Jets, and I've NEVER hated a player more than I hate Revis. I hated Peyton Manning, I hated Richard Sherman, now I hate Revis with a passion. I've NEVER wished ill will on a player in any sport, but if Revis were to blow out his ACL, MCL and PCL on the first play of next season. I will not shed a tear.

I hate everybody and everything right now. And for one night, I say **** the Pats for not paying Revis, and **** Belichick. Horrible job in the offseason. But my anger towards him will only last one night. Him and the Pats gave us such joy last month, but I guess the cost of winning was poor cap management.
This isn't about money. He didn't want to come back to us. The Jets were his number one choice last year and they were his number one choice this year. Money being equal, he was always going back to the Jets.

im not surprised by this in any way shape or form. i thought when they got him it was one and done. a leopard never changes his spots. at least we cashed in winning another superbowl.

Why is he a idiot? He got his ring, now he went and got paid(again). Nothing wrong with that.

They already have proof. Woody was caught red handed with his hand in the cookie jar. I'd be happy with a 3rd round swap and a 6th round pick. The rule clearly states SEVERE punishment. Tired of Goodell letting the Jets off the hook again and again and again. I didn't buy into this whole thing Joker was spewing years again but it's really come to light. He was right all along.

The Johnson comments will not get any more than what other tampering cases. If they can prove somehow the Jets spoke with Revis before the Pats declined to pick up the option, then the tampering case has much more teeth. It goes from an idiot owner making a stupid comment to a sustained ongoing effort to tamper with a player. That would justify a prescient setting penalty by the league.

No, the simple truth is that the Patriots lost a player they were bidding for. Beyond that is the unknown. The "overpaid" claim is ridiculous if you don't know the numbers the Patriots were willing to go with.
Ridiculous facts... that's a new one. Just like last year, this year will be a culmination of the numerous blunders BB continues to make.

I get Revis is gone but why the F did we get rid of Browner who was only getting 4.8m? That's a steal for a CB of his caliber.
Probably because we needed to be under the CAP by the 4pm deadline today?

Do the Pats even have the cap to withstand that huge front loading contract breakdown by manish mehta?

You sound like a *****.

**** them?
Horrible job?

Horrible fan, even if only for a night. It'd be great to have Revis again, sure. But for the money and guarantees involved, I can see why it's a tough call. For all we know the Pats tried to match that, or had something very comparable. I'll happily stick with whatever models BB has been using for roster construction for the past 15 years.

Probably something like, "We know how to run a successful franchise that is a championship contender every year, and people on message boards don't."

I'm paraphrasing, of course.

The comments right now are just insane. No one player is more important than the team. Revis got a ridiculous contract and there is no reason to believe the Patriots had any chance at bringing him back, even if they matched the Jets deal. Belichick is one of the greatest coaches/GMs of all time. He knows what he is doing... There's a bunch of whiny spoiled kids who are used to cheating on Madden. It's the real world, you can't keep everyone!

The Patriots will continue to win behind BB/Brady. For the last 15 years people and analysts have been criticizing BB. How has that worked out? Everyone wanted to run BB/Brady out of town after the the KC game. How did that work out? I'm shocked the idiots still haven't learned...

Ahh you've decided to just do some trolling, I see, and you're doing a piss poor job of it. No problem. I'll just put you on ignore for a couple of days while you make an ass of yourself. There's no need to let your dumbassery make the threads more ridiculous than they already are.

No one can argue that we are literally worse now than we was super bowl sunday.

Browner, vince, vereen and Revis.

There's no way the pats can field a team next season better than the one we had this yr and it's blatant homerism to think they was so much better than everyone else they it levels out.

Man, these forums are gonna be rough for a few months.

LOL! Yes, it is moronic to have faith in Belichick over a arguably the most successful track record of any head coach/GM in NFL history. Of course two months after winning his fourth Super Bowl with the Patriots, he has turned into Al Davis reincarnated.

And no, being a chicken little is not remotely objective. I love when chick littles claim they are objective. You lack perspective as much as the homers do. Maybe more because at least this team have proven to be consistently a Super Bowl contender.

Well, we know one thing, there is no way the Revis is playing for only $11 million in each of years 4 and 5.
