Revis Signs with NYJ

Inexcusable. A small part of me hopes they pay for this - and I'm a diehard like everyone else on here. So much for looking forward to the defense taking the field, they were so much fun to watch....
If you're so p.o'd, why don't you leave n become like an Eagles fan. I think after that trade they might need some fair weather fans

Hey the Dolphins haven't closed the deal on Suh. Maybe the Pats can jump in and steal him away.
Suh is good, but it is really foolish to invest the type of money the Dolphins are investing in Suh. If he gets injured you are pretty fecked. Good teams don't do this type of deals.

Yeah but Browner is super physical and... kinda slow. He's a solid #2 if you have a guy that can play man all day long. But we don't and won't have that. It'll go back to some of the weird zone schemes we ran a couple years ago and I don't think that plays to his strengths either. My guess is we'd see even more penalties from him...

Maybe I'll be surprised and he comes back. Stranger things have happened. I loved having Browner and loved his attitude. I just wished we hadn't wasted valuable free agency time on Mevis.
That's how I see it. If you have a corner on the other side that you can trust completely, like Sherman or Revis, and a very good FS that cover for Browner deep, then you can kind of hide his weaknesses and get the most out of him. But without that help he can get exposed much more easily.

At this point screw revis he is now the past. Let's focus on the future now. Cap room let's fill some holes

Pats went from top 3 defense in Afc to garbage in one day. Utterly shocking and I hope krafty Bob can explain this one away...perhaps (and I hope) they know there would be exceptional compensation r.e. tampering shohld Regis sign w nyj....super bowl play and all I don't think Butler's ready to be a #1 corner....
I didn't realize that the season starts on April 1.

The only good news about Revis bolting is that Miguel says the Pats are eligible for compensatory draft pick compensation for him. The Pats along with the Lions might be the first teams to get first round compensatory picks. :D

At the numbers floating around in the media, I have no problem with the Patriots moving on from Revis. It's not a prudent investment for the Patriots.

Build a team not a unit.

Superstars make a difference. Revis was the difference between a top defense and a below-average one.

Sign Jabaal Sheard and it takes a little of the sting away.
The Patriots will have thought through contingency plans for this very event. They're not fans with an emotional attachment and over investment in players.

The Pats will be fine and although it sucks to lose a player of Revis' caliber, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with all this fresh, new cap space.

Guys relax. We paid revis 12 mil and won a Super Bowl. The jets are gonna pay over 100mil over his career and win nothing. This is why we are the patriots and they are well whatever the hell they are. He was a one year plan and we both won. BB is gonna improve the offense and get as pass rush. We always have a chance to win an SB. With the money the jets gave him it was not meant to be. BB will just have to find a way to win with a team that has different skills than last year like he always does.
It's very hard to take because it took an incredible secondary for us to finally win another and even then we just barely won. It blows to go back to the days of getting shredded by crap qbs in the playoffs. We'll see....gotta give BB a chance but this is a big blow losing Revis and Browner in one day.

According to Breer:

Albert Breer said:
Jets CB Darrelle Revis agrees to a five-year, $70 million deal. $48 million over first three years. $39 million fully guaranteed.

If you're so p.o'd, why don't you leave n become like an Eagles fan. I think after that trade they might need some fair weather fans
Hey, good idea. That was so funny and witty I just might do it!

Suh is good, but it is really foolish to invest the type of money the Dolphins are investing in Suh. If he gets injured you are pretty fecked. Good teams don't do this type of deals.

I was joking. No way would I pay what they are paying for Suh.

If this was over a paltry few million guaranteed, I'm pretty mad at the Patriots. Can't be mad at Revis, who's doing what's right for his career, but he was the difference-maker for the Super Bowl this year.

I think it's fair to blame Revis for a "paltry few million" just as easily . But his choice, his character was plain for all to see, we just didn't want to believe it.

I think one thing is certain, we are not going to go into next season with this secondary. I expect us to sign one or two free agent corners. There are some good names out there, of course they aren't Revis, but hopefully we can land one or two like we did last year. I do agree with a number of posters in that our pass rush will have to be much improved this year.

Let's face it, Revis is irreplaceable. This is a huge loss. Our secondary could go back to it's 2008-2013 mediocrity days. I am interested to see how the Patriots counter. I am shocked Kraft did not resign Revis, shocked. Still, in Bill we trust.
