Revis Signs with NYJ

All of a sudden the Colts seem like the team to beat in the AFC. Our secondary went from the best in the NFL to probably the worst in the AFC East.

First, the Pats still can run through the Colts' defense like butter.

Second, the Pats didn't have the best secondary in the NFL last year.

We better have one hell of a pass rush next season.

This time next year, the Jets will b asking Revis to restructure as Wilkerson, Coples n other players contracts R up

Our QB alone makes up for that see 2011

Glad we didn't like having a dominant defense. I haven't been this upset about an offseason move (or lack thereof) in my life

It's amazing how many posters are pissed that the Pats didn't overpay for a CB. Glad they have no say in the running of the team. Still sucks to see Revis go, but hopefully the Pats get some good compensation for the Jet's blatant tampering.

That's a lot of money.

A bit sad. I am not angry at Revis : possibly Bill saw him as an amazing shot at a one year rental from the start... and hoped he'd return but knew it was less than 50-50.

Some posters are a bit too angry. But I will admit to being very concerned with the secondary now. Revis helped a great deal back there and I don't feel nearly as confident with the alternatives.

I'd gladly give all that money and browner money to Revis and figure the rest out.

I'm gonna assume the pats got burned and thought they had something worked out cause it makes no sense.
Inexcusable. A small part of me hopes they pay for this - and I'm a diehard like everyone else on here. So much for looking forward to the defense taking the field, they were so much fun to watch....

Will be interested in seeing the final contract compared to the Pats' best and final.
You will never know the pats' best and final. You will only guess.

Browner's a liability if he doesn't have a top CB opposite him.

Pretty much. He's a unique role player, not a #1 and not even really a true #2 cornerback. He's a shutdown corner against certain receivers and a total liability against others.

According to the reports, this is basically over a difference of $4m guaranteed, so the Patriots were quite willing to "overpay".

okay, we pay the Revis $5m to play for the Jets, but we get a 3rd round compensatory pick out of it in 2016.

The Patriots need to give Revis' kryptonite Stevie Johnson a call immediately.

On the bright side, if the pats don't get a 2nd rounder for for clear tampering the pats need to sue the nfl.
A second? Try their first! Revis is an elite player, we should get their first rounder!!

Darrelle Revis is all about the money. Nothing more. I'm now convinced of that. Way to prove your doubters right.

You hear it all the time. "It's a business". Because it is. This is a league where you'll be traded or cut with zero empathy from owners and GMs. Revis tore his ACL and bet on himself the last few seasons... now it's paid off. Good for him.

I think Butler can do a decent job replacing Revis. Need to get Browner back. As Revis' asking price continued to escalate via rumors, it seemed irresponsible to spend such $$ with the team cashiering good players left and right. Now we've got some $ to fill other needs. The asking price was simply too much. It was best for him to go.

Where does this come from? Butler makes one interception on a goal line, admittedly at a very important time, and now he can replace Revis? lol. I don't know what Butler can do. Maybe he can't do much of anything, or maybe he'll be really good. I definitely don't know right now just because he read one play.

Plan B time.......

It's clear Saints are in fire sale mode and CB Keenan Lewis has asked for a guaranteed contract or to be released. From film study this guy is the real deal. Trade a 3rd round pick to NO and get Lewis is my plan B. Money is pretty cheap.

"Yeah, I tried winning, just decided it wasn't for me."

Avoiding those extra games in January might actually do wonders for his longevity!

Remember, for a Jet, one ring is all you need.
