Revis Signs with NYJ

If Revis was asking for north of 16 mill a year, then whatever. Go ahead and skip off to the Jets.

Cutting Browner was such a ****ing dumb move what the hell man? Could have kept Browner and signed Potroast.
I disagree. Browner needs a really good #1 CB and FS. That way you can put him where you want and let the FS cover to his side. Without a Revis or Sherman on the other side that doesn't work.

Without a #1 corner opposite it is likely the Pats felt they couldn't give Browner the safety help he needed to be effective. So the prudent move was to decline the option with Revis unsigned rather than possibly wind up with a $5 million red zone corner.

That's the first theory I've heard that makes the remotest sense.

That deal looks awful in light of Revis and browner.

I know what this defense looks like with Mccourty and Arrington without Revis or Talib as your number one. And it sucks.
Downright atrocious. You're gunna pay McCourty but not one of the best CBs of all time. I'm disgusted.

Cap space and some rather attractive defensive linemen and linebackers still available...

This team took a step back tonight no matter what the kool aid drinkers tell u. These afc teams got better defensively and some offensively. I will wait to see what happens but once again the secondary is a weaknesss. Bill has been trying to fix it for years before talib and mevis.

We really took last year's defense for granted. It was the best Pats defense I've seen in like a decade. Browner and Revis were a huge part of that. I was thinking after the Super Bowl, wow this is great, if we keep these guys we can totally go back-to-back!

Now, well... sigh. Can Bill work his magic in the draft?

All of a sudden the Colts seem like the team to beat in the AFC. Our secondary went from the best in the NFL to probably the worst in the AFC East.

I think Butler can do a decent job replacing Revis. Need to get Browner back. As Revis' asking price continued to escalate via rumors, it seemed irresponsible to spend such $$ with the team cashiering good players left and right. Now we've got some $ to fill other needs. The asking price was simply too much. It was best for him to go.

Downright atrocious. You're gunna pay McCourty but not one of the best CBs of all time. I'm disgusted.

I'd gladly give all that money and browner money to Revis and figure the rest out.

I'm gonna assume the pats got burned and thought they had something worked out cause it makes no sense.

I get Revis is gone but why the F did we get rid of Browner who was only getting 4.8m? That's a steal for a CB of his caliber.

Yeah but Browner is super physical and... kinda slow. He's a solid #2 if you have a guy that can play man all day long. But we don't and won't have that. It'll go back to some of the weird zone schemes we ran a couple years ago and I don't think that plays to his strengths either. My guess is we'd see even more penalties from him...

Maybe I'll be surprised and he comes back. Stranger things have happened. I loved having Browner and loved his attitude. I just wished we hadn't wasted valuable free agency time on Mevis.

An unfortunate circumstance of actions speak louder than words. If he's happier with the Jets, then he's a loser... a very talented one, but a loser deep down. We won the SB DESPITE having a loser on the team. You're welcome for the ring, Daryl, or whatever your name is. I won't cry about losing a PoS who wants to play for the ****tiest team on earth (makes sense semantically). Not one tear.

I've been legitimately excited about Malcolm, especially since I've rewatched all 23 games from this year. Younger, cheaper, more fire...... and most importantly, DOESN'T PREFER GREEN.

The highlight of Revis' history is the Patriots, not the other way around. Let's move on. After all, we have $ to spend.

Ugh we're still a contender no doubt with the current team but it'll be an uphill battle like 2011 most likely...I still can't believe they cut Browner on a bargain contract...
