RUMOR: Revis "to hit the market?"

Like I said before, this is a stare down for the ages.

How is that "nothing?" It's what Richard Sherman received (40m guaranteed) when he set the market last spring/summer.

The reports I've read state that the Pats are willing to go as high as mid-30s (guaranteed), whereas another team has offered 40m guaranteed.

Suh just got 60. What matters is the guaranteed money and if I'm the Patriots I give him that in a heartbeat.

The Patriots are getting a big break from Brady and that is the thing that gives them the latitude to make this deal. If I'm the Patriots I go 4/60/ 45 guaranteed. From the sound of it that would get it done.

I am sorry, I really enjoyed watching the Patriots have a defense again, I am going to miss it. Sorry that my fond memories of greatness lends shade to the future of defensive mediocrity.

Understandable feeling for the short term but they still have a bunch of talent on that side of the ball and Belichick can still put together a good defense. It won't be what this one could be with Revis staying but they can still be good and they will still win. The biggest concern after the Revis situation has to be the interior OL and the challenges from inside the division they will face. On the other hand if they keep Revis this defense will take it to the next level. I'm still hopeful but the waiting sucks.

Anyone else think he will be back and these gut wrenching moments are just leverage games? If he wanted that Jest deal he would be a Jest right now.

Let's hope

Revis inc. gonna do Revis inc. Can't fault him for it. The patriots are shrewd in their own right. Let them play the game. These are the two most fiscally stubborn entities in the NFL today and these are the results we are getting. This is what makes New England great. On the other side, this is what makes Revis filthy rich.

I think he gets his advice from his uncle Sean Gilbert, a hardnose negotiator. The longer this drags out the more teams will try to outbid each other and the more $$ Revis gets.

Revis should run a sports agency when he retires.

I absolutely agree........the question is, if it's say three years 48mm - would we / should we guarantee 40 or more of it? I believe it was Curran that said we were willing to go the 48, but "only" guarantee 35.

It's a really scary move to guarantee 40mm or even 35mm, that means at 16mm a year with a 143 cap about of 12% of your money could be spent for nothing if the guy tears an Achilles or something. 16MM can buy you a hell,of a lot of talent or one Revis.

Going beyond three years @ 48/35 would be a really tough choice.

Absolutely. Jumping at New England's offer doesn't maximize his dollars. If New England backs out of their offer, he can take the bigger contract in New York. I really like Revis the businessman even if his interests oppose my interests as a fan at this moment.

Lets go patriots wake up and sign revis already. No more games
Do your job

Well, it doesn't look like the Jets blew him away with QB money or this deal would be done by now.

Great timing.
