Though this is a bummer if Revis goes, I very much doubt Bill is sat around getting ready to field a piss poor secondary.

I hope your right, but other than this year, our secondary has been pretty bad the past few years, the AFC Championship Game comes to mind where Manning put up 500 yards passing against us.

What's the diference if any when your @ 35-36 mill compared to 40 mil???.. Is there one?? Cmon Bill!! Get it done STAT!!!!! ;)

Id take the risk with guarentees. pay the man!

I'm ok with getting rid of people if they want to much money but 40mil guaranteed is what im hearing and thats not awful we have the cap room.

$40 million guaranteed is record breaking. By a lot. By nearly $15M for a Cb.

Pay the man we aren't restructuring and cutting players watch them walk for nothing.

3/48, 40 guaranteed. DO IT.

Unless you think he's going to fall apart in year 2, why not?

Counter with 3/45, 35 guaranteed. See if he is really all aobut the money.

He's done it for 7+ years prior and thought he could win with it, so why not?
Because he didn't win with it. Infact those secondaries he fielded single handedly stopped Brady going 6 for 6.

Here's my take: the 3 years/$48m/$40m gtd deal is from the Jets. Revis' team has put that contract out in the open for all franchises to look at. If a contender wants to match it or raise the stakes, he could go there. If no one wants to match, he compromises with New England.

Hi Ross, hope your right and we get some good news in the next hour or so :)

"Just give the man his money" doesn't create dynasties, folks. Team has never done business that way and I doubt they will start now.
Great players and coaches create dynasties. The Pats have a great coach and three great players including Revis, the rest are replaceable. I don't think it is a coincidence that it took ten years to win another superbowl until we had good defense again and Revis is the key to the defense.

Interesting that those details are known. Figure its up to us to get close to that mark.

Pay him.

Go get Harvin and make him the star he's supposed to be.

Go get Spiller, who is tremendous when healthy.

Go get Sheard.

Hoist Lombardi.

Rinse, lather, repeat.

Would rather Helu over Spiller. Too much injury prone-ness between Spiller & Harvin.

But yes, I agree with the rest.

I don't understand why everyone here is hung up on the amount of money. The problem are obviously not the 5m dollars but the fact that the Pats would like to have a way out of the contract.

Revis's reps have told teams they have $48M for 3yrs on the table now, with $40M guaranteed. My sense if that is from the Jets...

PAY IT.

edit: 16/year is a little too much. We should make it 14.5/year with 1.5 million incentive if they win the SuperBowl.

No thanks at 16 per and 40 guaranteed. I hope the jets over pay for him and we get the chance to kick his teams ass twice a year.
