Just give the man the money without him our secondary has a lot of holes in it.

I'm optimistic with that last tweet. Fully guarantee two years with a play time triggered third year?

we say that, but then if this year he suffers career ending injury (which reinjuring bum knee could likely be), then next year we take 20-25m cap hit in dead money. Chances of this are low, but still not negligible.

Sorry but if pats dont agree to that then how can they be anything other than cheap? PAY THE MAN!!

You want to guarantee 13.3 million for Revis each season? I hope you realize, that is highly abnormal to make a large guarantee like that.

I would like to keep Revis but that doesn't seem like smart business.
It's the price of doing business if you want an elite corner. Is it good business to waste countless draft picks on corners in attempt to find one? If his contract is almost fully guaranteed for 3 years its a risk to take. He's worth it as long as he doesn't get hurt...

OMFG, if the hangup is really over only 40 million guaranteed over 3 years then GET YOUR HEAD OF YOUR ASS KRAFT AND SIGN THE F***ING MAN. Brady gave up cash money in his recent restructure for a reason. USE IT.

He's the best cornerback in the league, pay the man!!!!

I don't know if the Pats don't think Revis is worth the guaranteed money, as much as they are afraid to set that kind of precedent. Pats want all players on the team treated equally and playing by the same rules, in a sense. Hard to almost fully guarantee one guy with no outs, but no one else. Could create animosity down the road.

3 years, 14.5 million, 40 million guaranteed. Come on Kraft, Bill.

If the Patriots ran the team like that they wouldn't be the winning-est team in the league in the last 15 years.

The NFL is changing - the players are wising up to the number games front offices are playing. See Suh, Ndonkeykong.

Seriously pathetic if they dont pay him that. Honestly i wouldnt know where to begin. I was expecting something ludicrous numbers wise but that looks like a perfect deal

I am leaving for an hour, when I get back, there will be shocking news...

"Just give the man his money" doesn't create dynasties, folks. Team has never done business that way and I doubt they will start now.

I take back everything I said, I assumed we were offering top corner money and the JEts were offering maybe 2-3 million more. OH dear GOD we aren't even willing to give a top corner contract to this guy? What the hell is going on ....

It's unlikely that not wanting to guarantee the full $40 million is a strictly a resistance to paying Revis so much as setting a precedent for future negotiations with other players. The team does not want to have others point to a guaranteed contract with someone like Revis as something on the table.

That and the Pats do love getting out of the last couple years of a contract gone sour and are quick to act on it, so it's not foolish on Revis' part to hold it as a sticking point. Interesting development...

Revis doesnt land in your lap every year does it.....

No, it's not the price. The money is fine, the guarantees are not.

Sure, the Patriots haven't had a CB like Revis since Ty Law and sure, they are cutthroat when it comes to contracts but giving out large guarantees absolutely kills your financial flexibility.

Never underestimate the ability to move around in the cap and in the draft.
