RUMOR: Revis "to hit the market?"

BTW, if we lose Revis, would he be a compensation pick candidate? I know that if you cut a player he isn't eligible, does that also apply if you decline his option?

Yes.

Miguel reported that Wilfork, Browner AND Revis are all eligible for comp picks if they go.

Each season is its own roller coaster ride. When people always ask "would you rather see a consistent contender or a superbowl followed up by a year or two of poor play" I always answer, consistent contender.

But, I go to the games, ya know...I pay for the enjoyment of watching the Patriots win or lose...I really like it when they win.

Then you must be a VERY happy fan for the last 15 years. In fact Pats fans have to be the happiest and most spoiled fans in the league. :D

In a game where every player is one play away from being gone for the season, ONE player is NOT going to make or break your team. In fact all the talk about how Revis was the reason for the Pats making to the superbowl is simply insulting to the other 24 guys on the defense.

If it's true and Revis is gone, letting Browner go makes a LOT more sense. Browner only ever made sense if he played man in conjunction with a Revis like talent. Otherwise his limitations make him too much of a liability for an every down CB, or over paid for a situational CB. If Revis is gone then its more likely the Pats will play more zone D and thus Browner loses value.

One more parting thought assuming by the time I write this Revis is still unsigned. One of the key elements in successful negotiations is the willingness to walk away from the table. Anyone who sells or negotiates for a living understands this truism. I wonder if the Pats leaking out that they think Revis is likely to be a Jet, is a signal to the Revis camp that the Pats are truly willing to let him go. They WILL walk away if they have to. It could be that this was a ploy to get Revis back to the table with a concession that can meet him halfway with.

BTW- if Revis is gone, I'm really happy its to the Jets as opposed to a real contender. This is like trading Drew to the Bills. You know that they got a good player, but still one that you know how to beat. He'll make them better, but not good enough to truly challenge the Pats.

Think about it. He was never an impact player vs the Pats because we never had that diva WR he could shut down and truly effect our passing game.. So what if he's shutting down, say LaFell, we got 3 other likely targets to throw to PLUS Gronk.

keeping my little fingers crossed that we can keep Revis, how great would that be....to break the hearts of the Jet fans once again lol

lets not kid ourselves. there is no Revis replacement.
i understand he could still resign with us! but if he is gone, that is a very big loss for us. no two ways about it. i would rather lose anyone except TFB

Gronk says, "Yo soy."

According to Ben Volin, Revis wants 3 years 40 mil fully guaranteed.

Why is Cromartie not talked about I thought he had a good year last year.

What does that have to do with what I just said, little guy?

I was completely wrong about Bill and the entire team at the beginning of the season. I've admitted that and was very glad to be wrong.

That doesn't change anything I've said. Revis was a winner as a Pat. Welker was not.

Disagree on Welker but I give a lot of credit for owning that. Most deny it

Can I add that NewsCenter5 has been awful this off-season. They are all gloom and doom about everything the Pats have/could/might/whatever do.
So tonight I hear Revis wants to go home to the Jets...

Umm, no, if that were true, he'd be there. They're the high bidder so far, by every report.

Agree with @tomecurran #Patriots slowing playing the Revis situation. The longer he's unsigned the better for #Patriots IMO.

That's nothing.

How is that "nothing?" It's what Richard Sherman received (40m guaranteed) when he set the market last spring/summer.

The reports I've read state that the Pats are willing to go as high as mid-30s (guaranteed), whereas another team has offered 40m guaranteed.

Like I said before, this is a stare down for the ages.

My refresh button is overheating ...
