I personally think Cary Williams is a decent CB if the Pats were thinking about letting Browner go I would have liked a guy like Cary Williams he's better than what we have minus Revis. Pete Carrol really cover the bases at CB Williams is a solid signing for them.

BTW, the Pats can get swagger from other places. Bryan Cox wasn't on the 2003 or 2004 team and both those teams had swagger. If that is the reason to keep Browner, you can get swagger elsewhere.

I like Browner and hope the Pats keep him some way, but sometimes you have give up players to make the team better. If it is Browner, I think the Pats will get by. There were games he was great and others where he was mediocre last year.

Yeah...that swagger was called Rodney Harrison...If there's someone like that available...I'm all for it.

Why the hell would they release Browner if his contract is already team friendly enough?

Not saying definitively that Browner is more important to this team than Revis, but take a look at how the team performed without Browner in the lineup and then how they performed with him in the lineup. Huge difference.

Not to mention that he was a critical component in that SB sealing INT.

my tweet to Miguel just showed up on the Twitter Column...haha nice

I will be more upset if Browner leaves than if Revis does.

Considering they signed Cary Williams (or so I hear) I doubt it. They don't have a ton of cash left assuming they do plan to pay Russell still.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but Reiss was on ESPN and said we could've let Browner test FA because if we don't sign Revis, then we're not gonna play as much press man, which is what Browner does.

So that doesn't sound very good to me.

Because we were so great playing Zone... Wasn't the D better when we pressed??? I going to watch our last SB over and over because it might be the last one in the Brady era.

Cary Williams is an average corner (if that) and a blithering idiot. He should do well in Seattle.

I will not be devastated if Browner leaves and we retain Revis. Revis & no Browner is perfectly fine. No Revis & no Browner is pretty alarming. If that were to happen I might break something.

Because even if Browner is less effective w/o Revis it still doesn't make sense. I don't see how you can excuse letting both corners go without a good backup plan. Who is a comforting pickup in FA? Would we try to work some magic yet again with DBs in the draft? The Logan Ryan/Malcolm Butler/Alfonzo Dennard era?

It would be nice if for once, BB builds the damn team and keeps it together. It took years to build this defense, now they might lose two important players. This is going to suck if it happens.

Wow- an "aha" moment. I didn't know Reiss said this, but this makes a whole lot of sense. I don't want to believe this but it would explain the Browner situation. If true, I wonder if this is precautionary or if the Patriots are quite sure Revis is gone.

Are you serious? Revis is a HOF player. Browner is an above average CB. Yes, I like him and his physical presence but Browner doesn't bring nearly as much to the defense as Revis does.

And many good corners waiting? Like who? Do you not recall what their defense looked like in 2013?

Dead serious, If it comes down to overpaying for Revis in a bidding war with the Jets I would rather see him gone and keep Browner, Butler, Arrington, Ryan, Dennard and use the money we would of spent on him on the defensive line. BTW Butler in 2 quarters of Superbowl play had more then 1/3 of Revis's season total of passes defended. Who knows what we have with this kid.

Reiss should leave the X's and O's to somebody else. That's just stupid.

Why the hell would Browner take a paycut given what other CBs have gone for this offseason? I'd be surprised if the Patriots asked expecting a yes. Or what's being reported is only a partial truth. I can't see them seriously thinking the Browner contract is a bad one now, they just might not want to spend that $$ on CB (combined with Revis).

But NE won't overpay Revis. Revis is worth what he's going to get. So who would you like to pickup on the defensive line?

And passes defensed? Obviously Butler was targeted by SEA right away. They threw away from Revis all game, like just about every single team does. Butler isn't even close to being as good as Revis.

Rodney is a special player, but Cox wasn't when he came here. So swagger guys do not have to be elite guys. In fact, Cox barely saw the field.

One thing I will say is that I think letting Browner shop himself may not have been a smart thing. With the money getting thrown around, he is likely to have gotten offers far more than what he is making this year and might decide to force his way out of town.

Rob I'm with ya. And for one, Jets have crazy money to throw around especially if they can get someone from Pats make a splash on back pages of papers.
