Sign the Beast XI: WR Andre Johnson wants to play with a great QB...Hey, Andre, I know a guy...

At a VERY team friendly deal heck ya sign the beast!! :)

I'd rather have Revis and the receiving corps from Foxborough High, than Johnson and no Revis.

Thankfully it appears that Johnson will not demand a 'No Revises' clause in his contract.

If he comes here on the cheap it wouldn't take much to make him a bargain. 40-50 catches. Not a lot for a guy like him who can still play.

If he wants to get paid he'll have to suit up somewhere else.

I'm pretty sure the issue in HOU was that they wanted him to take a lesser role and catch around 40-50 balls a year, which is exactly why he wanted out. He caught 85 balls last season in a down year, and still believes that he can be a WR1 and a major contributor.

I'd love the idea of having a guy like A.Johnson come here for 6m dollars a year or something, but it wouldn't make sense for either party in my opinion. I think someone will make him a bigger part of their scheme, while also paying him reasonable money. I'm thinking Anquan Boldin a couple of years ago.

Being told that you're a 40 catch guy next year by a coach who has been in town like, 10 years less than you, is probably a huge bitter pill to swallow.

Going to a SB contender and catching 40 footballs will probably feel a lot different to him. Pride can be fickle.

I swear 80% of the "name" free agents insist they will only play for a contender, about 80% of those players sign for the money.

There seems to be a misunderstanding with "name" free agents thinking that legitimate contenders have boat loads of money to spend.

Teams that contend in January and February have trouble in the free agency period because they spend to the limits and do it wisely. They don't splurge. They build through the draft and sign players to smart deals.

Guys like Kevin Williams last season are rare, he was still a "name" and narrowed his decision down to the two teams that ended up playing in the SB for probably a little less money than he could have had elsewhere, it must be all the more heartbreaking to that guy that he was THAT close to winning, in two ways, meaning Seattle's last play call and the fact that he was that close to choosing NE over SEA.

It's hilarious when people say that like Bill would choose a WR over Revis. News flash Johnson isn't getting that type of money from anyone.

I've always liked Johnson as a player, I'd love to have him here. He strikes me as a Belichick type of guy. No bs, gimme the ball, let's go get a ring.

Unfortunately for us, someone will still probably sign him for 7-8m/year or something similar. That is simply more than we'd pay for a guy who produced at the level of our 3rd target last season.

I'd love him here, it just likely won't happen unless he takes what he's truly worth to play for us. Someone WILL overpay.

I'd welcome him with open arms. I love all the comments stating his production in crappy houston, stop comparing guys who play for different tier qb's and systems. Johnson would have easily broke a 1000 with TB. That being said I see him signing elsewhere for more coin.

The QB absolutely matters, but sometime a bad QB is masked by the WR being the only, or 1 of 2 targets all season. The worst QB in the NFL can make a receiver look good if he targets him 180 times in a season.

Andre Johnson is not the player he once was, but he's still more than our #3 WR and could probably produce at the same level that LaFell or close to Edelman with TB at QB at his age.

But he also might not hit 1,000 with TB simply because we had 4 viable targets last season and he would have been 1 of 5 targets (Gronk, Vereen, Edelman, LaFell + a hypothetical Johnson), hard to produce 1,000 yard seasons when the ball is spread around so widely.

I'd love to have 4 guys putting up 800-1200 yard seasons over 2 guys giving you 1000+ and nothing to follow.

Solid post. He wouldn't crack a 1000 due to the spread it around system is well put, but when you need a play on the fly AJ is your guy. And I agree that he could produce at a lafell and Edelman level as I think his decline is more about lack of motivation rather than ability.

johnson wouldn't be happy here. The dude wants 90+ passes a year, and hes not going to get that in our system.

How about Browner for Hunter?
Deep threat solved, no need to draft a receiver.
Focus on offensive and defensive line of course unless Gurley drops.

Johnson apparently wants a Super Bowl victory more than that. He'd be a great fit in our system as long as he's willing to play for less.

Not true. He wants to win a Championship or at least play in one. He's never come close to it and hes been in the league a long time. I truly believe he would give up some stats for that opportunity.

Somehow I don't think Bill sees a major "need" to draft a WR. I think it's more of a board/media driven philosophy.

@Brettisaboss: Adam Schefter on Andre Johnson on weei- Patriots will be in on him
