That the Pats are confident that they have a deal that he will accept BUT want to make the case stronger against the Jets for tampering and allowing him to hit free agency with the Jets being the big bidder is just playing into BB's hands?

No...not feeling that one

I think the weight of the tampering case is trivial compared to whether or not Revis is on the roster. No reason to screw around when you're talking about a HOF caliber player.

Nope, it would be an unnecessary risk, we're talking about Revi$.

Occam's Razor would suggest you're probably over-thinking it.

So the jets are the big bidder, how does that prove tampering beyond the statement the owner made a few months back?

There will be no punishment for "Woody being Woody". Well... maybe a $25K fine that essentially reminds Woody that he isn't that bright.

I wouldn't think they'd play that game. Risk is high while the return is low.

While I agree that the NYJ tampered with Revis per the clear cut language of the CBA, I also think it's being overblown by many. While we may get to swap out picks with the Jets in some round---c'mon. I highly doubt Belichick is sitting around holding his breath that the league is going to punish the Jets so severely that he's willing to dangle his best defensive player on the line.

How would you feel right now, say if you were Philly, and your WR1 Jeremy Maclin was no longer able to try and negotiate with your home team because KC has already announced a deal? Or how would you feel if you were DET and you just lost the #1 available free agent in Suh because of reports coming out of Miami that a new deal is already in place (more obvious cases of tampering)?

no, im sure you arent alone. there are probably alot of other over thinkers out there with you.

no way your theory makes any sense

There is no way the Patriots would allow Revis to be blown away with a crazy offer just to get back at the Jets and bolster the tampering case. That's absurd.

nothing the jets have done, or will do, will get them punished.

we will be lucky to see them hit with a $20 fine

Yeah, that would really stick to the jets, which is more important than anything. NOT!
Allowing Revis to go to free agency risks his signing with PHI or any number of teams.

If the patriots have a deal with Revis, it will be signed in the next 24 hours. If they don't, Revis will be a free agent.

The Rats were punished by Paul Tagliabue when they tampered with, and stole Bill Parcells.

Have they been punished by anything more than a slap on the wrist for anything since Badell became Omissioner?

Since they announced this declination, I've felt they must be really close to a deal....
