McCourty to stay with Patriots!

It's not real. Searched for his account and the first thing that popped up was a fake account on my twitter. Sorry all! :/
You can delete the thread yourself then no further apology necessary. ;)

In Philly, the fans here are going ballistic for not able to sign McCourty.
People are pissed down here haha. They went from feeling great this morning about getting Maxwell, to feeling ambivalent about Gore, to amused by Sanchez return, to apoplectic about Maclin being botched. Losing on McCourty hurts as much. I wonder how much of this has to do with the problems in the Eagles FO, as well as Kelly's increasingly dubious plan.

Some sources are putting out that Revis is going to sign a 3 year, 46 million deal. Don't go nuts it's just what's coming up on my feed. :)

I'd be ok with that 15m per. Law was at that same stage where 3 yrs would of been perfect and 5 yrs was too long.

@MikeReiss: Devin McCourty called Bill Belichick to tell him he was ready to sign elsewhere, which led to Patriots' final pitch: http://t.co/IVEfI4ublQ
That is so classy from DMac. Most of the whores during FA don't give their current team a second look, as soon as they see the $$ signs in their eyes they bolt town without even a goodbye. Makes me respect him even more.

As a Pats fan, I find this to be pretty good news. Of course , by tomorrow afternoon everything will be all "bad!!!! real bad!!!!" again.

Until i see it in writing there is no way i see Revis settling for mediocrity. The offer would have to be astronomically more than what the Pats are offering and then that team would hamper themselves by giving 1 player such a deal.

Really thought we were gonna lose McCourty and sign Revis. Now I feel it's the other way around. Hope I'm wrong.

Final prediction: Revis stays, Pats beef up both trenches early in the draft and possibly take a stud WR/RB in the first 3 rounds if one ticks the boxes and is available when they pick.

3yrs seems short.. I'd expect him 4yrs, with the last yrs a backload... 14-15m seems reasonable, and he will still be the highest paid, per/yr... Get this done.

Id love to have been listening to that phone call between Devon and Bill. Makes me wonder was Bill just leveraging Mccourtys loyalty, then caved on the price once he realized he was going to sign elsewhere? Bill dosnt strike me as the kind of guy to change his mind over a phone call or make an emotional decision last minute. Bill probably said OK Mccourty is probably the type of guy to give me a best and final, if we are within X amount of dollars we will make it happen.

Tuesday evening will be the worst when a bunch of teams ink their marquee signings and the Pats stay quiet.

I think most people here will be happy to consider McCourty and Revis the "marquee signings", at least early on. There's always more to be done, and there are always needs to be met, but that's a solid start to the new NFL year.

Damn, I thought he was gone. Great news, pending the money. Is 5/47.5 more or less confirmed? Hope we'll be able to keep Collins/Jones/Hightower in 2 years while paying Revis and McCourty, but that's two-years-from-now's problem. For now I'll consider keeping Revis and McCourty a FA win in its own right.
