McCourty to stay with Patriots!

"We want you back!" - Devin McCourty & the rest of the defending '15 SB champs
"I want you back!" - Woody Johnson

Which seems more appealing?
It depends, If woody has $18+ million a year to offer. Money talks

Expect Revis to be locked up tomorrow or Tuesday.

Once Patriots officially decline the option on Revis, Revis is officially a free-agent, and teams will jump on that 1-minute after he is officially a free-agent. Patriots will have to act fast... Or, will Patriots let Revis see what is out there and have him come back to Patriots to see what they can offer?

We will know in 1-1/2 days.

McCourty: "I'm coming back!"

On to Revis!

Revis is staring down the potential of leading the 2nd Pats dynasty vs. making absurd $ in ratland.

What a decision. Will we get a Lebron-esque show?

McCourty and Revis are fairly independent situations from each other. Revis is the Pats' best CB; McCourty is more relevant to the Pats worst CBs (among those who are actually on the field at the time).

The main overlap I see is that if Revis goes, there's a ripple effect, and the worst CBs get worse.

The funny thing is two years ago, half this board would have been upset if the Pats re-signed McCourty at $950k a year. Now the entire board is ecstatic about him signing for $9.5 million a year.

"You're right, Mike! Overpaid! Bad deal Mike!" = tomorrow on 98.5 afternoon drive. Sorry for the spoilers.

Not true Loved his play since the Rookie season.
Was never down on him and would of been pissed if he left.
Same for me, but a lot of people on this board want to have anyone who has a bad game cut. So many people wanted Hightower gone, Collins gone and McCourty gone. people write off players too quick

Money talks, but money can't buy happiness. Devin pretty much just said that. He is now making big money, not the most he could've possibly had, but still a lot, and is staying on the team he loves too. Revis can, and hopefully will, do the same.

There is no way he's not coming back IMO, they wouldn't have locked up DMac had a Revis deal not been very close. Without a doubt Revis is almost irreplaceable because unless Sherman is out there then you don't let 24 go. I've got this tingly feeling that Mayo is going to be traded too.....

Yeah, they have talked down McCourty for a while. First, it wasn't that he was a top safety in the league. After virtually everyone proved that was an idiotic statement, they said safety is a useless position like guard (ironically, Mazz killed the Pats for the first month of the year for letting Mankins go).

but it all depends on how much he wants and how much the Pats are offering. If the Pats are offering 15 million and then the jets swoop in and say 19, that very well might be too much for him to turn down. we shall see

I like the good feelings...but you nor none of us have any idea what revis will do.

People underestimate Revis's love for the team that drafted him.
Money
Relationship with Mr Johnson
Having a head coach who is known for strengthening Dbacks game.
Also the thrill of taking on the best in Brady after he has the advantage of practicing against him and the team.
Being a hero if he takes the Jets over the Patriots and being the biggest thing in NY instead of a Piece of a stacked gameboard in Foxboro.
Its not all about money so I think its very telling that its just us and them and not Buff, Philly, or Indy at least right now.

McCourty as much as i love him is no way near as important as Revis. That guy elevated our whole damn defense he's that good. DMac's game would suffer big time without Revis there so that's why i'm confident he's close to agreeing, probably just his agent hashing out bonuses with the Pats.
