they are dumb enough to do it to.

The Rats are offering Revis 20 mil per with 60 mil guaranteed? Is this the number being floated out there by the Jets media suckups?

So, they refuse to pay him 16 mil three years ago, pre-serious knee injury, but NOW he's a prized 20 million/yr defensive back?

and half this board mortally fears these mongoloids in Jersey?

I threw those numbers out there to show the stupidity of Woody Johnson. But it has reported that the Jets are going to pitch to Revis that they will consider him the QB of the team and pay him like one and build the team around him. Good QBs are getting $20 million plus these days.

At least numbers like that would it make easy to move on from Revis. No way any of this is reasonable.

there's no way this can be true.

If it is, how do the Pats work out a deal with Solder before having to decide whether or not to pick up that option? How do they restructure other players to get under the cap?

How would the Saints do it? If they can't negotiate with their own players over the weekend, they'd have to jettison two-thirds of their team!

I agree, which is why I asked Miguel to weigh in--who also agreed.

So, if I am reading this right the Patriots don't have to make a decision on Revis until the end of March but his cap hit will count starting Tuesday?

No.

They have always needed to make their decision on picking up the 2nd year option by the start of free agency. Revis' camp would have been idiots to have done it any differently. Wouldn't you want the decision to be made by then with everyone else, if you were his agent? Why would you have structured it to have him hit free agency a month later, after everyone has spent their money?

You are just thinking of "when" the bonus money becomes due. The cap hit however, would go into effect immediately at the start of the new league year on Tuesday.

so..when are we going to sign some of our free agents?
for some reason i think revis, mccourty, and vereen will all find new teams.

I am sick of hearing about mevis. I am glad he helped us win a championship but 14 maybe 15 is the highest the pats will go. If he cared about winning there wouldnt be all this circus.

Has anyone actually looked at this situation with Revis from a happiness standpoint? Revis doesn't strike me as someone in this point of his career who would take a few million extra to go to a team that is going to perennially suck and be unhappy all year. I mean imagine what would be going through his head when he sees the s**t show at somewhere like the Jets? He'd be saying to himself 'i left the champs for this' all year long. He just achieved the pinnacle in football and now he'll settle for less because of cash? Don't see it myself.

Why do people still follow Bob? He's garbage and has been exposed as a fraud. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, as they say.

I saw it on twitter and posted it. Him and profootball rumors are always clashing claiming they broke the nfl rumors first. It is entertaining. I responded to his tweet telling him that i will believe this when shefter or someone reliable reports it.

Maybe, just maybe, their hatred of all things Patriots will influence them to try and torpedo the Pats, regardless of the damage they may do to themselves.

I think that was much of the motivation behind CameralocationGate; it would allow them to not have to accept the Pats excellence, they can just claim the championships are not legitimate.

It won't work though since BB will just walk away from paying stupid money to Revis and buy elsewhere.

Maybe since BB hasn't been willing to play along they needed to actively try and invent issues that didn't happen, like deflategate and Kensil.

That is riskier though and I'm so hoping this takes Kensil and the whole Rat organization down, at least in the eyes of honest observers.

Personally, I would be shocked if the Patriots went that high, but we'll find out soon enough.

I think some are throwing around some really silly numbers, which tends to happen during every offseason/free agency period. Last year it was all about Edelman and how he'd likely command 8m dollars AAV. The year before it was all about Welker and how we should offer him 5/50 contracts at 10m dollars a year.

One example where some of the higher numbers were true (on some level) were the projections of Aqib Talib, although we'll see if he ends up earning anything close to that in the end.

What offer do u feel they put out there for him?

Why should Revis decide before Wednesday?

Sure, he has an idea about what he's worth. But that's a lot different from seeing actual offers, which he cannot see before Tuesday after 4PM.

I suppose the patriots could present him with a final take it or leave it offer, indicating that if he refuses, the patriots will move on and sign someone else.

My reservation about the Revis contract is negotiations may take too long helping a competitor snatch away Devin McCourty.

Revis could do it to help the team so they can move on fast? Who knows.
