I hate to be the grumpy old Eff of the group, but what the hell were they thinking? Guy looks like he's ready for slow pitch beer league, and can't even play a 6 inning game without getting gassed.

hes better than middlebrooks. you cant play when all your thinking about is jenny dell.

I dunno, Capt., he's looking like a fat guy in a little coat. Down by the river. He might do better chasing Jenny Dell around and burn some calories instead of going to the local buffet for seconds.

He looks like he's at the can't see it anymore when he takes a leak size.

he will be fine. Wait and see what he can do...he has been fat his entire career. This guy can play ball

But just imagine how much better he could play if he were in actual professional athlete condition.

That did not work out to well for Sabathia LOL ...

Anyways ... I like this team and if the pitching staff flounders they have plenty of chips to fix it.

Big Difference being a fat guy in your 20's with something to prove and a fat guy your 30's with a fat wallet.

where is the pitching? how long will it be before ortiz complains about the media? is it sept yet? damn i wish the bruins were good.

We have our answer, sort of. Look, David, I read somewhere you made an offhand comment comparing yourself to Tom Brady. ("you'd want tom brady to be your QB next year") Let me be the millionth person to point out the differences:
  • Tom Brady doesn't cry about money or contracts.
  • Tom Brady doesn't interrupt Belichick's pressers to whine about stats.
  • Tom Brady doesn't ***** about rule changes. (insert Tedy Bruschi walk-off interview here)
Now, I recognize that David's a huge clutch performer, and we would not have the rings without him. But dude, please, do us all a favor and go beast mode and shut the hell up. Just do your job.

“The way that works, basically, is how much time you have at this level,” he said. “If you’ve got two days in the big leagues, I don’t agree with you doing crazy stuff out there. But you have 19 years in the big leagues like I do, you can do whatever the hell you want — because you’ve earned that.”

“The bottom line is, it’s not that bad,” he said. “It’s part of what people come and want to see. People want to come to the field, and the power hitters, they want to watch them hit homers.”

:D:D:D:D:D

I have to admit I love the home run and I have no problem with a player admiring their smash.
Once a player starts running the bases then IMO show respect from there to the plate.

After getting caught juicing (which probably lead to his heart attack), Ortiz should run hard until the ball
is officially a HR, put his head down, jog the bases with respect, and STFU…unless he just eliminated both
the NYY & TBR from contention.

ortiz had a heart attack? i didnt know that. ortiz is a diva. i love what he does on the field but i really dont like his act off it.

I was surprised at how big he is, but was he much smaller last season?

I dunno. I just know I've been lifting for 16 mos and I've gained maybe 6 lbs. I know he's a young kid compared to me, and a pro athlete with nutritionists and trainers and all that. It's just suspicious. Here's an image from his LA days.

I think it's hard to tell much when they're wearing baseball uniforms. I found this from a couple years ago:

Looks about the same size to me.

Maybe. I might be jaded too. We'll see if he gets pinched.
