Curran article on Jets tampering

Them why did you start this all out by claiming it is not the league it's the media fault? By this statement you are actually saying what we have been saying all along.

It is the media's fault that this has become a crap storm. This all started by a leak by the Colts and not in the league office. The first leak from the league didn't come until days later about the 2 PSI.

So now you are suggesting that Mile Kensil is the league equivalent of the Patriots ball boy,?

No. I am saying that if the league is responsible for every leak that comes out of their office, then the Patriots are responsible for every violation their employees do. You can't have it both ways.

What if the leaks actually came from Kensil's secretary? Or a janitor who overheard someone in the league talking? Then does the league bear no responsibility for the leaks?

No they aren't. They are a law firm. There are strict laws about billable hours. You cannot not charge for hours you didn't work. It is a little thing called fraud. You ever work at a law firm or a consulting company, they require you to keep detail records of your hours to the 15 minute mark and make you get your time cards signed by a superior.

Besides, why do we care if the league is throwing away money on an idle investigation? It isn't our money. In fact, it will probably take money out of Goodell's pocket since his bonus is probably tied to league expenses which is a good thing.
Actually, yes I have. YOu'd be amazed at the billing shenanigans of law firms, even "top" one (especially top ones, especially top NY firms).

Rob, you stated this all out by claiming it's not the league fault it's the media. Now you are saying over and over again that you aren't saying the leagues behavior is right. Which is it?

Then they are violating the law.

But then again, why do we care? If Wells is running up the bill, why do we care? It isn't coming out of the Patriots' cap. All it means is less appetizers at a league meeting or Goodell might lose about 0.000001% of his bonus this year.

It is the media's fault that Deflategate turned into a crap storm. The league did what they alway do and make a bad situation worse. How is that so hard to understand? These are not contradictory things.

Is the league responsible for making an already incredible media crap storm worse than it should be? Absolutely. Did they create that crap storm? No. In fact, the league probably did more damage to themselves over this timeframe than they did to the Pats.

Now you are just making sh.t up. If you are so desperate to win an argument that You would suggest that Mike Kensils secretary or the janitor leaked internal footage of the Patriots locker room then this is pointless. You win Rob. The league did nothing wrong, deflategate was all the media's fault. I'm sure Glazers sources were the secretary, janitor, and a dishwasher in the league cafeteria. And Mortenson's source for the twelve defeated balls was a stripper who gave the janitor a lap dance.

Unbelievable.

Sure Rob. I have no doubt that when The janitor gave Glazer that tape he really didn't know the media would run with it. Chalk it up to naivete.

I am throwing out a hypothetical. I am not making stuff up.

You are implying the Pats shouldn't be responsible for a rogue ball boy. I am asking how far down the food chain the leaks have to come from before the league is no longer responsible for their leaks. If the Pats are not responsible for a low level employee acting on their own, shouldn't the league be held to the same standard?

We assume it was Kensil who leaked, but it could be a low level employee who did.

btw the jests continue to put stuff out there that they'll do anything to get Revis all while he is still under contract. Ya I know can't do anything about that because they didn't say it directly. But come on.

That's OK, it's just "jaywalking."

No Rob, it couldn't. Mortenson said it was a high ranking source he trusted who was very upset, and low level sources don't have access to video footage the Patriots have turned over to the league, and if they did them the league is even more responsible for mishandling it.

I agree that the media was a major player in slamming the Patriots. But, leading up to the SB I was shocked that the NFL didn't take a stronger stance to deflect all the crap that was raining down on the Pats. The NFL office has an obligation to ALL 32 teams to make sure they are treated fairly, why did the NFL not have NE's back? They should have gone on the offensive and helped deflect as much of the criticism as possible so that the Patriots and their fans could have enjoyed the weeks leading up to the SB. It was inexcusable and reeked of bias.

First, you missed the point of my hypothetical.

Second, you are avoiding my point of the hypothetical. The crap storm was there with or without the league's involvement.

I think its very naive to imagine the league is not in cahoots with the media when they need to be.

Sure, we've been fed the line about the 'lonewolf' Kensil operating on his own - but if the NFL intended to damage the Patriots in the lead up to the Supwrbowl (again!) it certainly went the right way about things.

The drip, drip leaks - the wording of the NFL statement to imply wrongdoing.

I've also heard the narrative about the new commish who wanted to stamp his authority on the league - hence CameraPlacementGate -

What if that isn't true?

What if the majority of NFL owners, in cahoots with JetDell, are making it their business to impose parity on the league by any means necessary.

It makes sense that a lot of teams are sick of the Patriots winning so often - any move that discredits the Patriots is immediately greeted with glee by fans of opposing teams, players of opposing teams and owners of opposing teams.

I can only imagine how much extra anger I would be carrying on this issue if the Patriots hadn't won the SB.

I'm done with this Rob. People can look at my argument and judge it on its merits. It's pointless continuing at this point.

No kidding they're violating the law. Usually, they're not closely audited and the NY Bar disciplinary committee is pretty much just there for show. You want to lose you faith in the legal system? Try practicing law in the New York city area for a few years.
Goodell is a dream client for these type of sharks. Long on cash; short on brains. They can bill up a storm and it's not likely he's going to audit and even less likely he'll take issue with anything if he does.

So do you think the Pats should lose a high draft pick for tampering with Brandon Marshall?

No I'm not Rob, your hypothetical is ridiculous. You excused the league and you are now being absurd to try and make your argument, at which point there is no point in continuing.

What did the Patriots do with Marshall? Did not hear about that one.
