Suh to Dolphins a done deal?

The key difference there being we were already an AFC championship game contender, THEN added Revis. We weren't asking Revis to turn us from a 6-10 or 7-9 team into a contender.
No i know that but it was the assumption of big ticket guys not making a difference when they can and do. Adding Revis to an already great team like the Pats and getting over the hump is a perfect example.

Put all your eggs in one basket, Miami. BB has shown no problem game planning around the likes of Suh, Ngata etc. I'll be worried once teams in the division start intensely working on depth.

I remember when Mario Williams signed with the Bills. A lot of people were freaking out then too. How many times have the Bills beat the Pats since that signing? How many times has Mario sacked Brady?

One player does not make any team's defense into a powerhouse capable of sacking Brady 10 times a game.

The dolphins do have some good players on their line, that I don't think Buffalo had.

Suh can get paid a lot of places, including Detroit. What does it say about him if he leaves Detroit, where they love him, and just takes off for sunny Miami and a bag of cash. That's an NBA move, where every player wants to play in Miami or Los Angeles (Lebron going back to Cleveland being a HUGE exception and very refreshing).

I bet he isn't nearly as motivated or dominant after he gets paid, and players changing cities and teams take a while to get with the program.

Not excited that both the Bills and Dolphins are getting active early and the Jets have close to $50 million to spend as well. But that's the way it goes, every team is going to try to improve itself.

I also like the dogs in your avatar. Are they all yours?

Sorry to digress on this thread. I lost my 14-year old yellow lab three months ago... I need a new one.
Nope, not mine. Mine is actually a lab-golden retriever cross. He's got that lab muzzle though.

Addedum: maybe I'll find a shot of mine and use that for a bit at some point!

Addendum 2: Done! That's mine.

Dont get me wrong, I dont look forward to having to play Suh at all, but what a total mess the Dolphins are. They go from having Solial Starks and Odrick to losing solial for nothing, and walking away from Odrick and cutting Starks to make Suh fit, if it gets to that point.

As good as one player is, this seems like a classic case of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Suh is a heck of a player, but depth rules supreme in this league, and always will. Granted, had they not totally whiffed on Dion Jordan, they could afford to take this swing, but really they are expecting a ton from 3 guys in their front 7 to cover over a lot of other holes.

If I were him, Oakland would seem like a fantastic fit, with younger and cheaper players all around to grow with. I see the Dolphins as a tweener team taking a huge shot without really filling their major holes.

The same goes for Revis. If we have to cut Browner, Wilfork, DMac, to keep him, is he worthy it?

Suh is a great player. Evaluating the signing has to wait for the contract but, interestingly, the Patriots are currently on pace to have the worst DL in the AFCE next year.

Browner would not have to be cut to keep Revis.
Wilfork was let go because he isn't worth the $8.9m cap hit.
McCourty is a Free Agent.

And we all know how much you are loving the thought of that.

But then again you probably at some point this season said they have the worst DL in the AFC East, yet who won the Super Bowl?

Maybe @14m per year they dont need to cut him, but if he wants 20m?

If he wants 20 per year, he can go get it from someone else. That would put him 6 million OVER the second highest paid corner. No one is that much better than everyone else.

If the Patriots can't reach a deal with their franchise CB within the next few days, would part of the plan be to sign a franchise player on the DL?

Nope. They aren't giving Suh over 100 million and that's what he's going to get.

My expectations for the Pats just plummeted. Instead of 14 wins next season I'll have to settle for 13. :p

If that's true, then it may make Revis look like a bargain.

Awesome! Beautiful dog... reminds me a lot of my old friend. Thanks for sharing the picture.

Wake + Suh+ Vernon

M. Williams + K. Williams + M. Dareus

Richardson + Harrison + Wilkerson

Our OL will be getting quite the workload in the regular season.

The entire division is preoccupied with getting to Brady. Fortunately for us they keep overlooking the fact they also have to field a good football team beyond the d-line to win.
