First FA of 2015 we are linked to?

@MaryKayCabot: The #Patriots are also interested in Brian Hartline. He's taking his physical right now w/ #Texans. #Browns still in the running.

@MaryKayCabot: Hartline will take less $ to play w/ a QB such as #Patriots Brady, will require more $$ to play w/ a #Browns McCown or #Texans Mallet

Buy low. Doesn't get much simpler than that to explain the Patriots FA philosophy.

He's put up half decent numbers against us in the past, not a "patriot killer" like we love to sign, but half decent.

It wouldn't surprise me if we swapped him and Amendola with Hartline on a much smaller deal, but I imagine he's actually looking to get Amendola-ish money.

Danny Amendola dislikes this post

Surprised at the level of hate if he came cheap :D

He's better than Amendola, no?
He's 6'2, no?

We can't afford a sexy name as WR3 beside maybe Andre if everything worked out.

No, Just No
This article is pretty detailed in supporting the reasons why the Pats should pass as well.

The point of this study certainly was not to scapegoat Hartline for the offensive inconsistency that Miami has had, but rather to figure out why his production has slipped so much. Saying that he is just not a fit in Lazor’s offense is somewhat correct, as he does not possess the speed needed to make defenses give him special attention.

At the crux of Hartline’s issues is that he is not a gifted enough athlete to be what the Dolphins so desperately need, which is an alpha-male wide receiver (like Dez Bryant). Hartline has a role on any roster when he’s running better routes and catching the ball, but the reality is that role should be the third- or fourth-best receiver on the team, not the No. 2.

I really don't like the idea of Brady losing both Vereen and Amendola. He was on the same page with his receiving corps the second half of this season and it paid big dividends. I would love to see them come to terms with both because Brady, starting the season with his receivers intact would get them off to a good start, offensively. Hartline is a mediocre possession receiver, I don't really want him.

wow. Hartline's agent makes it sound like there's a veritable stampede of teams trying to sign him at the stroke of midnight when free agency starts. I'm sure Belichick is just overcome by a sense of urgency on this one! :)

Hartline is garbage. Sick of these kind of receivers. Just go get a vet who's still got it like Andre Johnson or Marshall or draft a beast.

A beast like Troy Brown, Deion Branch and Julian Edelman?

It would be nice if we could cut loose for once and let Brady throw to a guy downfield that knows how to get separation.

P.S. Don't for one minute think i would even try and disrespect guys like that. Edelman might just be my favourite player.
