Does this sound like a goodbye tweet from Shane Vereen to you?

Yup it looks like he's gone but nothin has been finalized yet. There is so many unanswered but that's for us to speculate. One thing we know is Ghost has been tagged, McCourtys not feelin luv and Revis is in witness protection program on his status. Hopefully Kraft/BB & Revis are tryin to work out a deal as I'm typing. It's lookin like some players will be asked to free up monies. Brady can't play for a dollar but then again he just might for Number 5,6,7.

I think it's been more than obvious to many of us that a fringe player like Shane Vereen wasn't going to be able to stay.

To answer the question--no, it doesn't come off to me as a definite goodbye. It sounds to me like a straightforward answer without much thought.

Fringe player? You're kidding right? He took over Faulk's role. Was Faulk a fringe player? The third down back is a huge role in this offense and if he goes we have a huge job to replace him...and Bill knows it.

This doesn't sound like a good-bye tweet. He was asked a question and he responded.

It's a gross overreaction.

I would say its a sure indication he will hit free agency...if the market takes him out of our range he is gone.

I live near Buffalo and Spiller reportedly turned down 4.5 million I heard on the radio this morning.

Yes, fringe player. Without a doubt. He's a nice weapon to take advantage of mismatches vs. LBs, but he's certainly not going to see the same value here in N.England as he will in other cities. Belichick will simply get that production elsewhere.

Look at Vereen's rushing totals, they are almost nothing. In 16/19 games he had 36 yards or less, and to take it one step further, two other games were highs of 40 and 43.

He had THREE catches or less in the majority of the games (10/19), and posted highs of 4 and 5 outside of his two big games against the tough defensive fronts of SEA and DET.

Unfortunately, he's also been oft-injured, playing in 8 games or less twice in four seasons.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great weapon to have, but the reality is that we simply cannot afford to keep players like this past their rookie contracts. We'll have to see what happens, but that's my opinion. I'd love to see him back, but I do not find it to be realistic whatsover.

Fringe players are expendable guys who are expected to be cut. Guys who we deem at risk.

He has never been at risk. His pass protection is excellent and his ability to catch the ball just as good when he is called upon.
