LMAO. Terrence Cody is more about speed than Big Vince? You're joking, right?

^^ Greased lightning right there.

Cody is one player. And he pretty much didn't pan out in the Ravens' system.

It is not pride IMO, is common sense. He knows that he is not worth 8m. The market will show that he is not worth 8m. And i dont think its Welker´s situation. He is a Patriot for life. He loves NE, BB... But they should stop doing this. Offer him an affordable contract : 2 years 7.5, maybe 8m and thats it.
Asking him every year for a pay cut is very disrespectful.
Except that they haven't asked him every year for a pay cut. In fact, I think you'll find the Pats only asked Wilfork to take a pay cut once.. This past year when he was coming back from injury.. And even then, they made it so he could earn the money back.

I honestly could see Vince back or retiring.

And what did that get them in terms of a run defense?

It is because they have crap d-linemen at least when Jones was out. It wasn't the philosophy, it is because Ryan Grigson is a moron and cannot put together a roster.

Speaking of Grigson, if Wilfork is the smartest move for them to make, it is pretty much guaranteed that Grigson will sign anyone other than Wilfork. In fact, he might trade a first round pick for Haloti Ngata who the Ravens are looking to redo his deal. Ironically, even though Ngata is on the wrong side of 30, that would be Grigson's best first round pick move he has ever made other than drafting Luck was was a gimme (if he was to make this trade).

Thanks Vince for putting your heart and soul in every single snap for this team, and sorry for having doubt you would be able to come back like you did.

Now, although my heart wants him back, my brain tells me that it's time to move on, his statement looks like a goodbye and they ended up in good terms and with another ring. That's life, Vince has nothing to complain, he has a wonderful life and family, I hope he cashes in a good money from a decent team that won't be out of the playoffs in week 6.

Thanks again and god bless.

I wouldn't close the door on Vince coming back just yet. I think we all knew that the pats were not going to pay him the 4.5 million dollar bonus that was in his contract. But he has a lot of ties here, he has commercial endorsements, and his kids are deep into the school system. I can see him coming back on a smaller contract. Nobody is going to give him the 8 million he was on the books for. I bet the Pats were straight with him and told him to at least give them a shot to match his best offer.

The only monkey wrench would be Miami, which might be tempting for Vince.

Exactly he might be back. But I could envision a retirement, excellent play and started and ended with a sb win in his career.

Its a little worrisome that the Bills just got Shady and we release our best run defender.
Is there a Wilfork in this draft?
Is there anyone on the roster that can be a beast and hold up two lineman yet stay in his gap?

Damn man. Real sad to see the big man go

Whether he panned out or not is irrelevant. It showed that Pagano is not afraid to go after a bigger body instead of speed if it's going a ways toward fixing an issue. Ngata wasn't exactly a speed demon either at his combine. He clocked 4.99 in the 40. A whole .09 seconds faster than Vince. You may want to revise your argument here, Rob.

This draft is loaded at DT, but DTs like Wilfork are becoming more and more obsolete. Teams are in their sub defenses more and more and aren't looking for big run stuff DTs anymore.

So basically, you just really don't want to see Wilfork sign with the Colts. You could have just admitted that instead of reaching for an argument that surely you know is a crap one.

Bad contracts remaining:

Mayo
Amendola
Arrington (to an extent, he's such a vital cog in beating the Colts that he's probably worth it)
Dennard
Hooman

To summarize Twitter:
  • The Patriots want Vince back ...
  • ... for less money than he'd be happy to accept ...
  • ... and he's making it clear that this time there are no hard feelings about the gap in negotiating positions.

Pagano wasn't shopping for the groceries in Baltimore.

Are judging 40 times for speed at DT? Ngata is a faster penetrator than Vince. You don't judge speed at DT based on on fast they run a 40 yard dash, you judge them on how fast they get off the line.

And the personnel decisions in Indy whether it is Pagano or Grigson, they make very few good personnel decisions. You take away Andrew Luck and put them in a more competitive division and they are probably a 5-6 win team. There is very little talent on that team and Pagano and Grigson have had three years to shape that team in their image. Again, if signing Wilfork is the smart move, they are likely not to make it.

Baltimore would make sense for Big Vince.

Nah, they got Timmy Jernigan and Casey Walker. Jernigan showed a ton his rookie year. I doubt they'd bury him behind Vince.

As a side observation I am wondering if it makes Brady realize even more that his time is on the horizon as he now is the only leftover from 2004...the last remaining piece from the dynasty years. We are the champs but it is kind of sad in a way.

Well, we should have two more good years of TFB, anything over that will be gravy, poutine even...
