Vince Wilfork announces on Twitter that the Patriots will not be picking up his 2-year team option. He is now set to be a free agent.

Love that big man but at this point I fully support the move. He is a true Patriot forever. Glad he got to win another title before it was over.

...NOW, frigging get Revis or McCourty back on board. This was expected but still helps us out in this regard.

Take a bow, Vince. ;)

The more I think about it, Browner unfortunately might be next. They wouldn't want to keep him and have to let Revis go.

I've thought about it as well, but I think Browner is worth what we paid him. He had a lot of good games this year and set the tone for the D. He's not Revis - no one is - but he's a great player on this defense, who is paid appropriately.

If vince wants money, he isn't coming back. he is going to test the market and other teams like the colts will offer him the money he wants.

there are other options for the patriots - haloti ngata or a DT in the draft. Terrence Knighton is going to get 10-12 million, which the pats won't do. ngata, at 31, may come cheaper if he wants to win another title.

It's so sad to see him go, but it is understandable.

Good luck on your next endevour, hopefully you come back at some point Vince!!

I hope they get rid of Arrington.....

I agree Browner is absolutely worth his contract. But not if they have to let Revis go by keeping him.

Ian, do I get,to keep my Wilfork Jersey?

I hate this part of football. :(

I'll miss you big V!

Please retire as a Patriot!!!!

Definitely sucks but not entirely surprising - I know we can all agree Big Vince is one of the best Patriots of all time. A consummate professional, hard worker, team first guy who played his ass off for 11 years. Wishing him nothing but the best

This move and a couple of others are necessary. The only incentive for Revis's agent to negotiate
is the ability of the Patriots to pick up Revis's 12 million option on March 9th and be under the
cap on March 10th. Otherwise, the agent will stall until the Patriots decline the option and Revis
becomes a free agent.
