I was wondering how I was going to survive getting through a season without Manning killing his receivers and throwing punts.

When this news was breaking earlier on Sportscenter they were saying "Denver's cap space gets better, Manning's bank account gets worse." Going on about how he's helping the team and it's so great.

HELLO? Look at the QB who just won the SB a month ago who is superior to Fivehead and a bit younger, who is making less willingly... And coincidentally he has restructured multiple times to help the team, yet I recall during his most recent restructure that the media pretty much said "well is he REALLY helping the team? if you look really close at the fine print and twist it a certain way to fit our agenda..."

God, the double standard is sickening... I have never and will never understand why Peyton Manning is the patron saint of the NFL while Tom Brady gets told to look into cameras and admit to false allegations...
Who is the reporter who did that to Brady? An unprofessional scumbaggy creep if there ever was one. Please say it was Bogus.

Manning, at this stage of his career, is still not worth anywhere near $15M. Between what he's made throughout his career and his stake in Papa John's on top of a likely post-football career on CBS/Fox/ESPN/NFLN, Manning could have been much more generous to try and help that horse Elway add more talent.

Even though Manning failed (miserably) at times last year, there weren't many QBs who have the experience and are able to make pre-snap adjustments plus read a defense like Peyton Manning can. To take it one step further, he had led DEN to 12+ win seasons on all three of his years there. That's pretty significant, as much as we like to make fun of his postseason woes. I think any GM will gladly take a #1 or #2 seed in the postseason, and go from there.

I think it all comes down to how much one believes his injury held him back, and whether or not they can make the necessary adjustments to try and limit his weaknesses (lame duck downfield throws), while taking advantage of the obvious strengths that he still possesses. In my opinion, they got the best of both worlds by still keeping a good to very good franchise QB, while also shaving 4m dollars off of the 2015 salary cap. In your scenario, they are not only throwing in the towel for 2015, but they are also hoping/wishing on a future QB from college. I think Elway is smart enough to realize that you still play Manning while he's able to play. Just my opinion.
He still is unquestionably one of the most cerebral QB's out there.....

I think it's going to be really interesting in Denver this season. This will be there first time in Mannings Pro career where he will have to run someone else's offense, and it's a run oriented offense to boot.

Actually Borges still needs to be called out for his a-hole question at Brady's press conference, which was based upon pure fiction.

For those who don't remember he asked Brady why he couldn't tell the difference in PSI when D'Quell Jackson could and he only touched it once?

Jackson actually told the media that never happened, Borges has yet to own up to it.

EDIT: Save yourself some reading... what Ivan said. :)

I dont think so.

Borges was the one that yelled repeated indignant questions at Brady as he walked off to the likes of "If a LB could tell the football was deflated why couldn't you?".

Borges probably thought he had struck reporter gotcha gold (though I'm sure Ron stole the idea from some highschool intern working at the Herald).

It came out later that day that the LB in question, D'Qwell Jackson couldn't tell the difference was was quite emphatic that it wasn't him that noticed anything amiss.

Borges definitely fits that description but it doesn't really narrow the field much.

$4m pay cut huh?

Well the sports media will be demanding he get a Sainthood.
I heard some Denver lackey say pay me took a straight pay cut not like what Tom Brady did, the media just can't get their nose out his arse

Never thought a noodle arm can earn $19M/yr.... I'm in the wrong business...
