RUMOR: Revis "to hit the market?"

DO whatever to it takes to keep Revis

I dont see hime leaving. They knew what they wanted and what they were getting. He lived up to the hype and the money invested. Then a SB on top of it.

He will be here.

It's hard to tell, they drool nonstop so how do we know the reasons why?

Even worse: Jets very interested in McCourty, and he has no issue "going back home".

Ya i saw that. Jets really do need a player like McCourty. Leader in locker room and on the field. For a team full of idiots...he would instantly rise to top

I can understand why he would be fine with going home, it's always losing he will have the problem with.

FWIW, Reiss feels Revis will hit the open market:
kais1man (NYC)
Mike so your expectation is that no Revis deal gets done before March 10th?

Mike
That is my expectation. I'm not even sure if they've even gotten down to talking about hard-core numbers at this point. There's a lot of strategy that goes into negotiations. I wouldn't read too much into that one way or the other.

FWIW, Reiss feels Revis will hit the open market:

FWIW Ivan thinks he will sign a long term deal with the Patriots. Ivan believes they have reached a deal in principle and are now hashing out the details. The Patriots aren't in a hurry because they want Rex and other suitors to twist in the wind and hold off making other deals in hopes he will become available only to announce it at the last second and crush their hopes and screw up their plans. Frigging Belichick, Fricking GENIUS.

I hope you are right.

Howe is very optimistic revis deal gets done

I'm getting that feeling - maybe it's just wishful thinking. I get the sense that hte whispers are out around the league that Revis is staying.

Maybe it's because Rex went on a spending spree, or maybe because ED on NFLN today seemed pretty confident that Brady would have a superior team around him when they meet Peyton in Denver this year. Even when it was mentioned "what will the Pats' secondary look like," all three of them seemed to shrug it off to some extent.

I don't know...again, maybe it's just me...but I can't see them letting Revis walk at this point.

And if Revis is back, don't count out a DMac return. It'll all depend on the numbers, but I think they both liked playing in that group last year.

.@AdamSchefter tells @AdamSchein he expects #Jets will attempt to pay Darrelle Revis "anything he wants", and says it'll come down to NE/NYJ

Hey Rog, where you at on those tampering charges filed by the Pats over a month and a half ago.

would Revis really go to that clown car that is the Jets to win 3 games a year the rest of his career though? if he does then it definitely was All about he money. I just cant see that ppeing though

I've learned to temper whatever optimism I have for retaining our big name players by the 14 year track record established by BB and the front office in these matters.

I'd get used to the idea of no Revis, McCourty, Vereen and of course Wilfork(unless he takes a big step down in money).

I will hate it but ...I hate to say this again, the redundancy is excruciating, but..it is what it is.

Jets will "pay him whatever he wants". I want Revis back as much as the next guy but feel fortunate our front office isn't a clown show. "Pay him whatever he wants". Sounds dumb to me, there has to be a limit though the Jets do have a lot of cap space.

Let's say the most important factor is Revis finally found his badass winner soulmates in BB and Brady approaching age 30. And for sake of argument say all sides already know Pats are in the $14-$15mm/yr range for a 3-4 year deal with good guarantees, and the high bidder, say NYJ, are at $16-17mm/yr with similar term/guarantees. Revis could just take this deal before free agency, but even if he has decided 90% to return to the Pats, I think he's got enough dramatic flair in him to shop the market and THEN come back here just to make it look more Brady-like. All will play out soon.

for what its worth also, Curran said the no movement on McCourty has to do with the Revis negotiations, and that Revis wants to ultimately remain a patriot. Signs in the media seem to be pointing in that direction that he stays.

which is why they jetisoned wilfork. to clear space for McCourty/Revis imo

The Jets know they wont have a QB making over a million for the next few years, they can afford to pay Revis as their "QB" and still have plenty or room to add to other parts of the team. I could see them offering him 4 years 80 million, 50 million guaranteed.

In that event I wouldn't blame Revis if he left when we only offered 15 million a year its a huge difference.

To prevent this I would pick up his option and negotiate from there.
