I'm guessing Cleveland wants an old QB to backup/mentor Johnny Fartball, instead of a fairly young UDFA who is better than him.

Not a bad idea if Manziel didn't suck.

I'm guessing Hoyer wants to start long term, Browns want a guy who can come in and start for a little while if needed but also ride the bench and mentor Manziel if he can get his sh*t together like they hope. I am thinking McCown is probably a lot more willing to mentor, start some, sit some for decent money at his age. Hoyer probably wanted out, period.

This is old but may bring a laugh.

Coaching Move

Pete Carroll leaving the Seahawks

Late-breaking story from ESPN Sportscenter..........

Pete Carroll, former head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, is reported to be very near to signing on
as a special consultant to The Pope in Vatican City
The Pope wants to recruit Carroll to be a spokesman for the Catholic Church because he is the first man
in history that made 100 million people jump up and yell "************!" at the same time.
More information will be reported as this story is followed.

Dallas resigns RFA Cole Beasley - WR

Reminded me of Edelman. I saw him as a potential Amendola replacement if he walked.

4 years 13.6M w/ 7 guaranteed.

Not a free agent signing, but this is as good as any thread to place this news:

Per Adam Schefter, Bills and Eagles are set to swap Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy.

Seems like a good deal for both teams as long as Alonso can rebound from his injury

Chip Kelly is doing a complete reworking of that team. That I get.

He's moving on from the players who are actually good. That.... I don't get.

Cannot believe what Philly just did! Thanks you assholes for sending and elite back to the AFC East

Very interesting. How much money do the eagles have to play with?

McCoy is a hell of a player but Kelly might think it's easier for an RB of lower skill to succeed in his system... So he's moving a high value piece he feels may not need for a valuable piece he does need.

Edit: should be decent cap savings too I think?

Look at what Rex already has in place...

Quality defense
Multiple running backs
Cap space
Functional TE (Chandler)
Legit deep threat for P.A. passing game (Watkins)
Legit second receiver (Woods)

If he gets a QB, that Buffalo team's going to be a real pain in the ass.

I don't usually buy claims that teams are "just a QB away," but the Bills...yep.

Tyler Ott Harvard long snapper by Patriots. Was 2nd rated LS last year but made a bad
play in a preseason game and was cut.

They just lost almost half their cap space getting McCoy.

And they have Dareus and Gilmore coming up for big contracts.

While very true, this still won't stop about 90 percent of the forum from automatically penciling in 6 wins vs. divisional opponents next year ;)

Good to see some competition and a potential replacement. Not quite the kind of signing we're all looking forward to, but definitely the kind of signing that we've all grown to expect!

IDK about you but I was waiting with my popcorn for this one. Championship move. We got LS and K worked out for sure now one way or another.

Now all we need is a few minor moves with low priority guys like Revis, McCourty and Connolly and that should do it.
